Emmi Loni Camin

Emmi Loni Camin, 77, died on September 3, 2005, at her home, surrounded by members of her family. Although she had been ill for a number of years her decline beome more rapid in the last months.
She was born in Grasteben, Germany, on September 17, 1919, grew up there, married Albert and gave birth to her only child, Baldwin. She immigrated to the United States in 1953 with her husband, Albert, and her son, Baldwin, settling in Denville, New Jersey. She left behind all other members of her family, but was able to visit them regularly in her later years. While she and Albert had begun a horticulture business in Germany, she changed occupations and worked for Warner-Chillcot Pharmaceuticals for most of her American life until her retirement. Emmi and her husband moved to Arlington, Washington, from New Jersey, and later to Marysville, Washington. They were founding members of Shepard on the Hill Lutheran congregation in Granite Falls, and Messiah Lutheran Church in Marysville.
Emmi made a reputation for herself as an expert baker of "Zuckerkuchen" and "Rolladen", one of the requested items at congregational gatherings. When her hands allowed her she knitted many items for family and friends. Due to the recent history of strokes however, she was not able to continue her desire to be the friendly hostess offering "kaffee and kuchen" to visitors. In the closing months of her life she was under the constant care of her grandson, Jon, and his wife, Teia, at her home in Marysville. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Joern and Kamile; her granson, Tim, and his wife, Yoshie, and son, Kenji, of Bothell, Washington; her grandsons, Marc, of Meridian, Idaho, and Baldwin and Janet Camin, of Jerome, Idaho.
Emmi's sisters, brother, and other relatives in Germany have mostly predeceased her, as did her husband, Albert, to whom she was married for over 50 years.
Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m., Thursday September 8, 2005, at the Marysville Cemetery.
