Emory Lane Obituary

NORTH TAZEWELL, Va. – Emory R. "Jack" Lane, age 78, of the Dry Fork area, died Monday, May 2, 2005, at Tazewell Community Hospital.
Born May 23, 1926, in Wise County, Va., he was a son of the late Bessie Adkins Moore. He was a member of the Cedar Bluff Community Church. Mr. Lane was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was a life member of the Barns-Beavers VFW Post 7136 of Tazewell, Va. He was a retired coal miner and member of the UMWA Local 6633 in Bishop, Va. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one son, Jackie Dale Lane.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Virtie Corennia Baldwin Lane; one daughter, Cathy "Sharron" Lane of Blountville; two sons, Emory Joel Lane and wife Brenda of North Tazewell and Steven "Rocky" Lane and wife Sybol of Bastian, Va.; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 5, 2005, at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell, with the Rev. Bill Shook and the Rev. Sammy Barnett officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, Va., where military graveside rites will be conducted by members of the Barns-Beavers VFW Post 7136 in Tazewell. Pallbearers will be Frank Baldwin, George Baldwin, Allen Baldwin, Kevin Wess, Jody Lane, Jackie Adkins, Charles Adkins and Johnny Waddell. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Eduardo Tolosa, Dr. Edward Litz, Lawrence Davis, Curtis Smith, and Benny Stiltner.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, May 4, 2005.
