Dr. Engin Oktay

June 7, 1931 - October 4, 2022 Born in Istanbul in 1931, Engin was the beloved child of Nizamettin and Muzeyyen Oktay. After graduating as a physician from Istanbul Tip Fakultesi and completing his training and military service, he immigrated to the United States in 1965. In 1970, Engin met Honorata, his soulmate and devoted wife of 50 years. They settled in California, where they raised four children and worked as physicians for Kaiser Permanente. Engin pursued a 34-year career as a hematologist and oncologist, where he cared for and healed innumerable patients and offered unconditional support to his colleagues. Engin was a loving and generous person who relished his time with family and friends. His surviving family are extremely grateful for their time with such an extraordinary individual. Engin is survived by his loving wife, Honorata, his children Nazli, Yasemin, Feza, and Erhan, their spouses, Sami, Jim Bob, Brad, and Heather, and his grandchildren Kaan, Leila, Sophia, Fletcher, Zadie, Evie, Micah, Melia, and Noah.
