Enrique "Henry" Cortez

I am very sad to hear of Henry's passing. Henry and I were roommates at Johnson and Wales. He bought my beat up very late model Toyota Carola, it was his challenge. After we graduated we worked to together at the Silo Restaurant together, it was owned by the same family that owed the ole brogue, I moved to Texas we lost touch, I was just thinking about him and googled him and found his obit, Rest in peace my friend

Henry and I worked at GMI together. I have great memories of chatting with him about lots of topics that were generally not associated with our jobs as food scientists in a big corporation. Most of the folks we worked with had the same resume so his diverse background and culinary experiences made him way more interesting than most to chat about anything.

One poignant memory I have is an off-site where we took busses to Le Sueur to visit the Green Giant R&D lab. Around lunch, a bunch of guys ended up playing touch football in a park. It was 4th down at the goalline and I was the QB and I told the huddle, I'm going to throw it at someone really hard so be ready to catch it. Henry was open and I gunned it a very short distance and he caught it for the winning TD. He was reliable.

I move onto CPW (Int'l breakfast cereal) and a couple years later Michelle got an opportunity to expat in London. Henry got to be the trailing spouse and able to maintain his employment status transferring to CPW in Welwyn Garden City. Given his eclectic food background, he wasn't particularly passionate about breakfast cereal, but he figured it's a job and better than the alternative. We chatted throughout this transition and he was always quick with a witty observation about the corporate culture, ancient building or cast of characters there.

Since 2017 or so, we both moved on and lost touch, but my memories are fond. I send the family my deepest condolences and wanted to leave my note to let y'all know that he made an impact in the world and on me.

I knew from the first date that Henry and I would be together. It was a wonderful life, made richer and more fulfilling by our combination. I miss him already.

We all have such wonderful memories of Henry. So many reasons to celebrate Henry. Whether enduring quirks and habits, memorable adventures and experiences, or heartfelt acts of kindness. We´ll cherish these memories in our hearts - forever.

Henry is unforgettable. Kind. Generous. Wise. Each of these qualities highlight the influence of Henry on our lives. Henry is - and will continue to be - a positive impact on all of us.

Henry leaves us with a legacy of love and connection. Henry believed in meaningful relationships. He loved us - his family and friends - and these relationships created a sense of belonging and warmth to all of us.

Henry leaves us an enduring legacy of love. Henry will thrive in our hearts - forever.

Our love for Henry knows no bounds. We will love Henry forever - as he loved us - forever.

Henry was a dear friend in the Edina Community Woodshop. I was looking forward to his return. He will be dearly missed. My condolences to you, Michelle, and your family.

I´m so sorry to hear about Henry´s passing. So young. I worked with Henry many years ago at General Mills, he was always such a kind and caring person.

I´ll never forget the time, back when I was in 8th or 9th grade, when Henry told me that he wanted to invent the next "secret sauce" one day. We both laughed for a moment. Then he deadpanned: "No, bro, I´m serious." And you know what? He did just that - and more! Later in life he expressed how fulfilling it was to feed others and see them enjoy the food he helped create. And that´s just the thing, you know? Seeing the joy and fulfillment in others in something he gave...

I´m going to miss you, Kiki. My sincerest and heartfelt condolences to Michelle, Elizabeth, Daniel & Sarah. Cheers to a man that understood that the secret ingredient for life is the love that you give, the fulfillment that love provides and impact it can make!

It can be said that Henry had a life well lived! It was a life of love and caring for family and friends.

Henry and I and a couple of our friends went fishing several times. Some of the fishing spots were a bit remote so you had to traverse a bit of jungle. Henry was walking near me and his head was on a swivel and I asked him why he was so anxious. He told me he was extremely afraid of snakes. So there were of course many jokes along the route. One of our friends is an Ex British soldier and retired Hong Kong Police Officer, and the other is an Italian Heavy Metal Bass guitarist, who did not always get all the jokes in English. The places we had to go through were actually full of snakes but we never "actually" saw any. I think making all the jokes made Henry put his fear aside and power through the jungle. I am going to miss fishing, exploring restaurants, looking for the perfect chocolate cookie, and talking about every thing under the sun with Henry.

Although we only recently had the pleasure of meeting and spending time with Henry we recognized immediately as an Old Soul. He was the type of person you connected to immediately, if you were sincere and open to it. We especially looked forward to being in-laws as our daughter Emma marries his son Daniel next year. And although that is now changed, we know he will be guiding from above and his love and influence will be a source of strength throughout their lives.

To Michelle and to their children we offer our sincerest love and wishes for comfort from the knowledge that this wonderful man loved you all fiercely, unwaveringly, and he is with you always.
