Eric V. Bergstrom

With a deep sense of loss but also gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Eric V. Bergstrom III, who left us on August 24, 2025, in Springfield, Virginia, at the age of 84.

Mr. Bergstrom was born on January 20, 1941, in Dallas, Texas. His parents were Eric and Pearl Bergstrom. He attended Bryant College, where he met his soon-to-be wife, Lynn Bergstrom (née Bettle). They married in 1960. During their marriage, Eric and Lynn welcomed three children.

The Bergstrom's moved to Providence, RI, where Eric worked as a UPS driver. Eric had a successful career in the chemical coatings and paints industry, first with Mobil Chemical and retiring from Valspar. Eric's occupation moved the family to Fords and Metuchen, NJ, Beaumont, TX, Mobile, AL, and Destrehan, LA.

Eric, always a hard worker, spent his retirement years becoming a trusted advisor to many people while working at H&R Block during tax season. He enjoyed sharing his deep knowledge about finances with clients and family.

He also spent his free time caring for his family. It was common for his kids to receive newspaper or article clippings of interesting topics in the mail. He supported local sports teams, such as the Zephyrs and Saints.

In 2015, Eric and Lynn moved to Greenspring in Springfield, VA, and made many new friends. Eric could often be found lending his talents to help with Bingo, Mexican Train, and LCR. He spent hours working on community puzzles. Every week, his team played WII Bowling, and Eric won numerous medals in tournaments.

A believer in education, Eric and Lynn are generous supporters of the student scholarship fund and the staff of their community.

Mr. Bergstrom is survived by his wife, Lynn; his son, Eric IV, and partner Judy Linton of Suffield, CT; his son, Mark, and daughter-in-law, Barbara, of Annandale, VA; his daughter, Dana, of Alpharetta, GA; his sister-in-law, Susan Silva, of Silver Spring, MD; and three generations of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eric and Pearl, as well as his sister, Johanna Leibrock.

Eric will be privately laid to rest with family in New Jersey.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at the Village Church of Greenspring, located at 7420 Spring Village Drive, Springfield, VA, 22150. All are welcome to attend his memorial service and celebrate Mr. Bergstrom's life.
