Eric BRISKE Obituary
1921 - 2016
Eric Briske of Edmonton, Alberta, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 24, 2016 with family at his side. Eric was born Erich Hans Brieschke in Gersdorf, Germany and immigrated to Stony Plain, AB, Canada in January 1951. In spite of the cold reception from the weather, he remained, eventually opened Briske Electric in 1961. In 1981, Eric retired to enjoy many years in Edmonton, at Lake Isle and in Mexico being thoroughly spoiled by his wife and best friend of 45 years Lilli Briske.
He will be deeply missed by Lilli, and by his children Susan Box (Hugh), Connie Prokuda, Kim Briske, and Jacqueline Bye. He was predeceased by his son Bernard Briske (Connie).
He was a proud Opa to his grandchildren Stephanie(Jeremy),Thomas (Jeannie), Robin (Brad), Andrea (Spencer), Gage, Katherine (Stuart), Aaron, Kelly, Daniel, Jared and Kyra and great-grandchildren Jaden, Kai, Margaret, Eden, Adelaide, Olive, Archer and Artemis.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the staff of the DAL Unit at Lifestyle Options for their seven years of devoted care and to the outstanding staff of Parker 4 at Capital Care Lynnwood for the compassionate treatment Eric received in the last three months of his life.
A celebration of Eric's life will be held on Tuesday, November 1, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., Westlawn Memorial Gardens, 16320 Stony Plain Road, Edmonton, Alberta
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta in Eric's name.

Liebe Frau Brischke,
wie durch einen Zufall habe ich eben die Visitenkarte von Ihnen und Ihrem Mann gefunden. Ich habe dann mal Ihren Namen bei Google eingtippt, und dann mit Bestürzung in dem Nachruf gelesen, dass Ihr lieber Mann kürzlich verstorben ist. Das tut mir aufrichtig leid.
Ich hatte die Visitenkarte vor vielen Jahren in Frankenberg beim Bütowertreffen mit einem groen Beutel Canada-Kulischreibern von Ihrem Mann bekommen. Wir haben viele Jahre mit meiner Kapelle/Band zur Unterhaltung beim Bütowertreffen gespielt, zum Konzert, zum Tanz und auch zur Kundgebung. Ich kenne viele Bütower, allen voran Gerhard Gube, der ein Sangesbruder von mir in Frankenberg war und dessen Sohn Michael heute Präsident des Bütower-Comitees ist. Ich erinne mich gut an Erich Briske als einen sehr freundlichen und musikbegeisterten Menschen. Ich habe mich mehrmals mit ihm über die ganze Geschichte unterhalten, was sehr interessant für mich war. Die Kugelschreiber wurden dann an alle Musikanten verteilt und auch später konnten sich noch viele an Erich Brischke erinnern.
Trotz des gesegneten Alters von 95 Jahren kann ich Ihre Trauer nachempfinden. Ich übersende Ihnen mein herzlichstes Beileid.
Ich wünsche Ihnen und Ihrer Familie alles Gute und sende Ihnen viele Grüe aus dem schönen Hessenland
