Eric James
Eric James Burghardt of Bowling Green, OH passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at The Toledo Hospital. He was 37. Eric was born in Toledo, OH on February 8, 1977, to Dale and Teresa (Blankley) Burghardt.
Eric was a leukemia survivor and even though it took his sight and a heavy toll on his body, he rarely complained. No one had a better outlook on life. Eric was always the first to make anyone around him laugh. He adored his family and friends, playing his guitar, and all types of music.
He was past president of the Toledo Chapter for the National Federation of the Blind. It was at a conference for the NFB that he would meet his friend and future fiancée, Elisha.
Surviving are his parents, Dale and Terri Burghardt; sister, Stacie King; grandmother, Helen Blankley; nieces Emily and Paige; fiancée, Elisha Wells and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Eric was preceded in death by his grandparents, Albert and Irene Burghardt, and Marvin Blankley.
Eric, you were an amazing man and an inspiration to your friends and family. We will forever miss your smile, your laugh, your crazy sense of humor. You will forever be in our hearts. We love you, dude.
