BREWSTER — Elizabeth "Betty" Youngs Perry died peacefully on April 20 at Pleasant Bay Nursing and Rehab in Brewster. She was 93.

Her husband, Richard I. Perry, died in June 2007. They were married for 66 years.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, Richard O. and Janine Perry of Brewster, J. Keith and Jeanie Perry of Kankakee, Ill., Elizabeth Perry and Carl Ahlstrom of Brewster; her sister, Frances Shaver, of Westchester, Pa.; her grandchildren, Beth Miller, Jonathan Perry, Katrine Burkitt and Hilary Burkitt, and several nieces and nephews.

She was born on March 23, 1917, in Newark, N.J., to Cornelia Ogden and William Francis Youngs. She grew up in Summit, N.J. and attended Kent Place School. She was an accomplished seamstress, designing and sewing coats, suits and dresses for herself and often for her daughter. She taught sewing classes during the Depression and attended art school in Newark, N.J.

She taught Sunday School at Summit Unitarian Church, was married there to Richard on Oct. 11, 1940. They raised their family in Summit, and after retiring to Cape Cod in 1979, Betty was an active member of First Parish Brewster. She was a member of the Brewster Garden Club and enjoyed painting florals and landscapes in both oil and watercolor. She was completely devoted to her family, loved her gardens, especially roses, her dogs, and had many dear friends.

Donations in her memory may be made to The Animal Rescue League of Boston or First Parish Brewster HEED Fund, 1 Harwich Rd., Brewster, MA 02631.

A graveside service at Lower Road Cemetery, Brewster, will be held later in May.
