Eric had a curious mind, a great clinical skill set, and a determination to over come set backs and difficulties. He had a strong personality, a strong sense of right and wrong, and was both engaging and interesting as a friend and colleague.
A great surgeon, a great researcher, and a great searcher for truth. His work with our government against unprofessional organ transplant practices in China were important contributions to world health.

Also, a great guy to have a beer with.
