Hinrichs, Eric, went to be with Jesus on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
Beloved husband of Karen Butery. Dear brother of Catherine Hinrichs, Anton Hinrichs, Ludwig Hinrichs and the late Arthur Hinrichs. Uncle, brother-in-law and friend of many.
Eric was a Renaissance man with a broad range of interests. His education included an honorary Ph.D.; Master degrees in Economics and in Strategic Intelligence; Bachelor degrees in Electrical Engineering and in German Literature. His employment was primarily in Europe for the United States Department of Defense in Electronic Engineering with Top Secret Clearance. He also taught at several community colleges in Missouri. He published 29 books.
Eric was an avid linguist and culturist who spoke seven languages and promoted Scandinavian culture in St. Louis as the President of the Den Danske Klub (Danish Club), and a member of the Swedish Council, the Viking Club, The Norwegian Society, the American-Scandinavian Foundation, and the German Men’s Choir as well as the Deutsch-Schwedische Gesellschaft Heidelberg. He also promoted Scandinavian culture through the publication of several books including, among others, 500 Years of Viking Presence in America; The History of Ancient Scandinavians: Linguistic, DNA, and Cultural Evidence, and The St. Louis Scandinavian Song Book: Translated into English from Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Faroese, and Icelandic.
Above all, Eric was on mission to live for Jesus Christ and felt strongly called to contribute to the America he loved by sounding the alarm about the forces working to undermine America’s Christian culture and democracy. He published multiple books to this end, including: The War for America’s Soul; The Illuminati’s War on Sovereign Nations of the World: The New World Order and the End of Democracy; and The Chinese American War.
Eric's love for Jesus informed his personal life and his devotion to his wife and family. Again, Eric voiced his passion in his book of poetry: Christian Poems of Love.
The driving force of Eric’s purpose might best be expressed in his own words from The Waif From Shenadoah Street, a book about his own life:
Man must choose how his character and actions will weaken or strengthen those of others….If we choose the qualities of gentleness, humility, calmness, trust, generosity, truth, justice, loyalty, and most of all, love, they will constantly affect the world….And nobody in my seven decades of life has expressed this better to me than the LORD Jesus Christ!

Karen, I'm sorry for your loss. I just found out today. I worked with Eric at DISA CONUS when I lived in Illinois. I know he loved you. He shared his poems with us along with his fast knowledge on many topics. Send my kindest regards to his extended family

Karen, I am at a loss for words. The news of Eric's passing was a complete shock. I hope you can find comfort and strength knowing your friends are praying for you. I will surely miss the talks Eric and I had periodically. He was more than a co-worker at DISA... He was a mentor and teacher. I once asked Eric why he did not mind taking the time to show and teach me things about his portion of our evaluation team. He said, "You're like a sponge and you thirst for knowledge. You make it easy to teach." I will never forget him and the things I learned from him. Rest In Peace my friend. You will be thought of often.

Karen: Thinking of you often. This morning at the college, conversation is being overheard that says...we will miss Karen this semester. Please know that you are loved and missed. Prayers that you will have the time you need to grieve and that through all of this you will be strengthened; physically, emotionally and spiritually.

May God comfort you deeply in your loss. I was in several classes at church with Eric and was always impressed by his brilliance, his passion, and his defense of the faith.
