Eric was a fine duplicate bridge partner and the two of us had so much fun talking about our two teams, UCLA and Stanford. I had ten trees planted for my friend, Eric, and I hope they will provide shade and beauty for those near by them. Diana Glimm

I served with Eric on the UCLA Alumni Board of San Diego for several years. Not only was an advocate for generations of students, he was an advocate for me as well. He also reached out to me during my own health issues. I am truly saddened by his passing and my heart goes out to E and his family. Go Bruins forever.

Over many summer vacations together in Lake Tahoe, my 2nd cousin, "Big Eric", taught me how to play cards - how to shuffle, deal and play correctly - as well as the beauty and imperfection of odds and probability. He loved to compete and connect over games. Despite being a generation older, Eric was always willing and eager to join us in a game of volleyball or basketball. And in these ways, and many others, Eric exemplified the values that our extended family holds so dear: loyalty, responsibility and devotion - to his family, friends and all things UCLA.
Eric was a serious person. Which meant that when he laughed - which was often - it carried that much more weight. And once you knew Eric, you couldn´t miss his loving and genuine soul. I looked forward to his movie reviews and he seemed to have thoughtful insights on almost any topic.
In my adult years, I unfortunately saw Eric far less often, but I appreciated and enjoyed our occasional correspondence, which was often lengthy and in which he shared wisdom from his successful career and life. About 8 or 9 years ago, while spending a great day with Eric and E in Hawaii, he encouraged me to start 529 plans for my daughters, which I would not have done without his sage advice.
Eric´s passing has left a huge void and my heart goes out to E, Eric, Erin and all of his grandchildren. I think of Eric often when I play cards with my family, and I know that I will always remember him every time I do.

To the Juline Family-
I hope that the memory of Eric will be a great comfort to you. He was a truly wonderful man, always giving of his time and good counsel. Eric served on the Business Council and the Craig School Business Council when I served as Dean. He helped me greatly in making the transition from Ohio. I cherished the times that he, Ken Newby, and I would talk. I don't think that we could have achieved our full accreditation and successfully raised the funds to build the new Business School building and University Business Center without him.
When I think of Eric I think of a man who stood on high moral ground. Time spent with him was always truthful and filled with optimism. A life well lived is to have been there for and loved by your family and to have helped people and he accomplished both.

PS: One my most cherished memories of Eric is of him at the ground breaking ceremony for the new Business School. He is standing in the dirt, laughing and looking down at young boy next to him who is jabbing a huge shovel into the ground. That 9 year old boy was my son Michael. There is a photo of this and I will try to find it and send it to you because to me it captures the sheer joy that Eric could bring to a moment.

My dear friend Eric´s passing has left me with a hole in my heart. I will miss our bi-monthly lunches with him and Mark Caton, where we would discuss everything UCLA and our families. He represented to me what an great alum of UCLA looks like. His support our alma mater through his volunteerism, support for all athletic teams, as a season ticket holder of football and basketball, and support their other sports. He also created a scholarship program for those in need, and I could go on and on, but suffice to say he was a GREAT BRUIN. Thank you Eric for your friendship and guidance and I will do my best to follow your example.
