Eric A. Morrill, of Wayne, and formerly of Augusta, made his peaceful exit Sunday, July 27, at his home overlooking Jennings Stream surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Eric was born in Augusta, Nov. 4, 1946, to Richard and Peggy Morrill . He attended school in Augusta, graduating from Cony in 1965. After high school Eric joined the Army and served overseas in Germany and Vietnam. Later, traveling through Europe, Eric met his future wife Peggy in Germany.
Returning to Maine together, Eric and Peggy married in August 1970. Continuing on their journey together, they both enrolled at the University of Maine at Farmington. Eric graduated in 1974 and soon thereafter started their family. Eric spent many years working in the social services field while also building and renovating houses. Later in his life, he enjoyed collecting "treasures," building furniture, creating metal sculptures, and working on the North Wayne School house.
Over the years Eric enjoyed many adventures at Clearwater Lake, Pemaquid , and traveling to Washington state to visit with Peggy's family. He had many friends and was always eager to join them and help them whenever he could. He was a creative and talented man of many interests, and had a project wherever he was.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of Wayne; recently married daughter, Ashley, and husband, Ryan Eldridge, of Farmingdale; son Chase and wife Sarah; and four grandchildren, Maggie, Nori, Eva and Fletcher, of Wayne. The oldest sibling of 11 children, he leaves behind his brothers and sisters: Leigh and Sharon Morrill, of Newcastle, David and Sue Morrill, of Augusta, Martha Morrill and Bruce Morang, of East Winthrop, Becky Jasch, of Farmington, Sarah and Richard Barnum, of Augusta, Gladys and Steve Russell, of Farmington, Jennifer Morrill and fiance Ray Bergeron, of Kennebunk, Tim and Glo Morrill, of Richmond, Ida and Andrew Flint, of Redmond, Wash., and youngest brother Charles Morrill, of Farmington; as well as many special nieces and nephews. He was a great father, "Pappy," brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to a large extended family. He left this world better than he found it.
A celebration of his life for friends and family to share loving memories will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 10, at the home of Eric and Peggy Morrill, 20 Walton Road, Wayne. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Capitol Clubhouse, attn: Cathy Reardon, 37 Stone St., Augusta, ME 04330; or North Wayne School House in Wayne.

My sympathy. Even though it's been years. He most likely developed cancer from Agent Orange. My husband also served and now has Parkinson's when exposed to the chemical.

Eric was one of the nicest persons I've ever met. He always had a good word to say about everyone, no matter who it was. The world has lost someone special. I'm sorry I won't be able to attend the celebration of his life, but for everyone in his family please accept by condolences.
