Eric is predeceased by his Father Leo Seib, Uncle Rob Seib, Aunt Mary Wilkerson, and Mother-in-Law Barbara A. (Cavanaugh) Shive. Eric's hometown growing up was Haubstadt, IN. After graduating high school from Gibson Southern in Fort Branch, IN, Eric headed to Western Lafayette, IN to graduate as a very proud Purdue Boilermaker with a degree in Civil Engineering. Thank you to Mike Mergantime and Merco, Inc. for grabbing Eric from Purdue, bringing him to New Jersey and making him part of his 1st NJ family. Eric spent 26 years building a career he loved and enjoyed. The friendships he made over the years were treasured, thank you. During Eric's career with Merco, each year The Moles Awards Banquet would come around in January. This night out with the guys - all in tuxedoes - in NYC was always a nice time, and Eric always said one day he would be inducted into The Moles, and he was! This accomplishment meant the world to him. (The Moles are composed of individuals now or formerly engaged in the construction of tunnel, subway, sewer, foundation, marine, sub-aqueous or other heavy construction projects.). All who knew Eric knew his door was always open for guests. He lent an ear to listen, showed compassion, empathy and love and would always be waiting for whoever walked through the door. When you were around Eric you knew shenanigans were guaranteed to happen, with a whole lot of laughter and memories made to last a lifetime - and for that his wife Kim is forever grateful. Eric was great at reminding people to stop and think about living, really living, and focusing on what's important. I guess when you know the 2nd chapter of your life is going to begin, you do you! That is exactly what Eric did! He loved unconditionally, made friends a part of the family, and kept his heart and mind open! Eric enjoyed many a great time. From St. Patrick's Day in NYC, living "like a rock star," and Aaron Lewis singing in the background (wishing he was there in-person, LOL), Eric always knew how to have fun. With Eric a drink or two of bourbon was always a given resulting in great conversations (family and friends are still trying to figure out when Eric learned a "2nd language!"). The list goes on-and-on. Eric's wife Kim believes he is still "doing you." As they discussed, Eric will get the lay of the land in heaven so when Kim arrives, they can head to their beautiful new spot together.
