We will all take a piece of Eric with us forever and a day. Eric had the wonderful capability of working out difficult situations with a gentle word. He will always be remembered by His wife Donna, children Alexandra (Dean), Erin (Hollin), Christopher and Laura; His grandchildren Kennedy, Jack, Cody and Eric; His sisters Nora, Pauline (Phil) Susan, Evelyn (Jeff), and his brother Colin (Sheila); His many nieces and nephews, His good friends, colleagues and acquaintances. We will always miss His wit, charm and love. XOXO. He was the most courageous man we knew. God bless you Eric Winn. Our home will be open on Thursday, January 3, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Donations may be given to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, Tom Baker Cancer Centre, 1331 - 29 Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 4N2 (www.albertacancer.ca) in Eric's name. Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting www.edenbrookcemetery.ca. Arrangements entrusted to EDEN BROOK FUNERAL HOME and RECEPTION CENTRE, 24223 Township Road 242, Calgary, AB (17 Avenue S.W. and Lower Springbank Road).

I will be quiet as I know you are only sleeping.
I don't know if I ever told you this, but you were one of the main reasons I came to Canada when I met you in the late 70's. I was besotted with Calgary but you made it even better. We hit it off right away with our strange sense of humor and outlook on life.

I always looked up to you as a kind of big brother even though I have brothers, but they did not have what we had, the wit, sarcastic view of many things, and the ability to stretch things out as far as possible and laugh so hard - do you remember? It got really ridiculous at times, but lots of fun.

I always told people you were my best friend in Canada and Calgary, we spoke nearly every day on the phone and you were there in my darkest hour (Stephen). You drove us home from the hospital with Brian remember?

It just came to me about all the calls I made to you from England before living here from the store. You were in Modern Tool at that time and it was one big phone bill that wasn't itemized or it would have cost a fortune, but Tesco paid. Even then, the humor was great over the phone.

From one SMART FELLOW to even your last days saying "SANTA'S BOOTS" at the foot of the stairs, you had the same humor.

I don't know who to call everyday Eric! Now that you are sleeping I call Angie, but the conversations are not the same. You were also so good with advice when people were in trouble or had things weighing them down. You could calm me and others with a few words of wisdom.

I could go on and on (but it's too hard) about the laughing and situations but I don't want to disturb you, as you are sleeping so peacefully. After your Brave battle, and I do mean Brave.

I love you Mr. Winn and it was a pleasure knowing you (don't go questing my sexuality just cause I said I love you).
God has a big house with many rooms, and yours is now occupied. I hope it is next to Stephen's as he had the same sense of humor as we did.

I have just received this terrible and sad news. Eric and I did business for 30 years and what a true gentleman he was. He was one of the finest men I have ever known. In recent months as the reality was clearer he would call me and talk about his family. He loved them. I am so sorry.
