Erin Brennan Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 21, 2008.
Erin Brennan was born to this life on August 5, 2000 in great joy, love and anticipation. On May 21, 2008, she lost the battle against brain cancer that she fought so bravely for over twenty months. Erin did, however, win the war and was righteously rewarded with the blessings of eternal serenity and peace in the loving embrace of God. We are blessed and honored to have had Erin in our lives, and grateful for her willingness to stay here with us for over a year longer than we were told to expect. Erin had a beautiful experience in this life. Through treatment and illness, she continued to live her life with grace, always willing to share her laughter, humor and her purely beautiful heart. She was very spiritually insightful and trusted the path she was walking. Erin taught us how to live in full expression of love and happiness, and we will cherish that gift until we are privileged to join. Erin leaves behind to follow her parents, Anne and Terry Brennan, two brothers, Paul and Shawn Michael, her MoMo, Susan Edgar, her Dziadzi, Jerome Novak and Nana Holly Novak as well as her Granny Lois Brennan. She also leaves several Aunts, Uncles and her adored cousins who made her smile when no one else could. Erin's father, Terry and I have decided that there will not be a viewing in order to convey what we feel Erin's wishes would be. We will have a small, brief funeral service at 11 am on Wednesday, May 28, 2008 in the chapel of the CHANDLER FUNERAL HOME, 2506 Concord Pike, Wilmington that will be offered by Father George Karney, who baptized Erin and certified the marriage of Terry and myself. We feel honored and blessed to have him appropriately say the final words of love and peace acknowledging her life and her freedom. Burial will directly follow at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Cemetery, Greenville. Kindly omit flowers. We ask that our wishes regarding flowers be respected. We would rather a donation be made in honor of Erin to either the B+ Foundation c/o Joe McDonough, 101 Rockland Circle, Wilmington, DE 19803 towards direct assistance for other families like ours. Or, to the Oncology Clinic at Nemours Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children, c/o Dr. Andrew Walter, 1600 Rockland Rd, PO Box 269, Wilmington, DE 19803 to be applied at his discretion to benefit oncology patients. We feel very strongly that Erin would ask this of us. Please visit Erin's Webpage at www.caringbridge.org /visit/erinbrennan.

Erin,
It´s been 16 years and you still have yet to leave my mind. Erin was one of my best friends in the second grade, my buddy at recess, & the girl I´d sing true friend by Hannah Montana with constantly. (We were singers in another lifetime clearly!)

Ever since I met this sweet girl, even myself being so young, she inspired something in me. I´ve carried you in my heart for 16 years, currently finishing up my last semester of nursing school, and going to be fulfilling the promise I made myself when I learned of your passing. I´m going to be a nurse and try my hardest to spread the same light and love you gave to me. Miss you dearly little lady, I really meant it when I said I´d be here until the end!

I can't believe it has been 11 years since we lost her sunny smile. Her bold and silly way of being the queen of the room. I wish there was a way to forget the hard parts and only remember the easy parts. She is an amazing angel and she watches over us all - those who love and hold her dearly in our memories. Whenever I hear a child laugh that certain way - I feel her! Bless all those who remember her and hold her in their hearts. Peace!

Erin:
I cannot believe that it has been about ten years since your passing. It's your cousin Emma. I am in seventh grade now. I may not have many memories of you because of how young I was, but the ones I do possess are good ones. I really miss you and love you.

Aunt YaYa:
I love you.

With love,
Emma

It is so hard to believe that 9 years have passed since we lost that physical spark of life - Erin. Your life was short but you made such an impact on so many lives. David and I have thought of your sweet smile and remembered the silly jokes we used to make up for you. Your battle continues to inspire us to try to make any difference we can so that other children and parents will not have to suffer.

Anne

Terry

We want you both to know that you are in our prayers and thoughts.
