Ernest Bogue Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 25, 2025.
Ernest "Ernie" Bogue, 80, of Oakdale, Connecticut, passed away on August 22, 2025 with his family by his side. Born on January 12, 1945, in Westerly, Rhode Island, Ernie lived a full and hardworking life defined by dedication to his family, his home and his passions.

Over the years, Ernie built a career that reflected both his skill and his tireless work ethic. He worked as a truck driver, mechanic, and yard foreman-roles that showcased not only his technical expertise but also his reliability and strength. Known as a fabulous mechanic and a good neighbor, Ernie was someone others could count on-whether it was to fix an engine or lend a helping hand.

Ernie shared 56 years of marriage with his beloved wife Dorothy Bogue. Together they raised three children: He leaves behind his daughter Susan Breed and her husband Norm Breed; son Ernie Bogue and his wife Nola Bogue; His daughter Bonny Giusti Shinkovich predeceased him. His legacy continues through his grandchildren: Nicole Sullivan, Brittany Sullivan Kensing, Andrew Giusti, Jacob Jurczyk, Brooke Bogue, and Brianna Bogue. He was also predeceased by his granddaughter Megan Giusti. His great grandchildren Julianna Cokic, Isla Kensing and Beau Kensing.

Outside of work and family life, Ernie found joy in drag racing and restoring his classic Corvette-a labor of love that reflected both his mechanical talent and deep appreciation for cars. Cruise nights were among his favorite pastimes; they gave him the chance to reconnect with old friends who shared the same passion for engines and speed.

Those who knew Ernie will remember him as strong in spirit and generous in heart-a man whose hands were always busy but whose door was always open. His presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on August 30, 2025, at 02:00 PM at Knights of Columbus 47 2nd Ave, Taftville CT

Dearest Bogue Family, we are just heartbroken over the passing of Ernie! I´ve known Ernie since I was about 14 years old growing up in the Manor! Ernie was a very special guy, full of kindness, always made people laugh, and one of the best mechanics whom I learned a lot from him by hanging out in his garage, instead of turning me away Ernie would hand me a wrench! As I got older, I had the pleasure of helping Ernie build his race cars and going to different racetrack´s, having a few beers along the way! Here´s to the "Wild Weekend" that we had!
Ernie may be gone from this earth, but he will live forever in our hearts!
I say to the Bogue family..... keep looking up, for He will always be looking down! RIP

Ernie and I go way back, to about 1964 and the old race days at the Connecticut Dragway. He was a great guy and a very good friend!

I´ve been truly blessed to have grown up with my family! I pray Uncle Ernie knew how much he influenced me as a young man growing up. His family first, dedication to helping others whenever he could, and being a strong man figure for me helped shape me. He will always be in our hearts.
