Ernest Rose Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 8, 2022.
Ernest Lawrence Rose passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 6, 2022. Larry was born September 6, 1937 in Hartford to Lawrence and Lucy (LaMonica) Rose. He lived most of his life in Farmington attending Noah Wallace School forming life-long friendships. After graduating from Westminster in Simsbury he attended Colby College then returned to Farmington to carry on the family painting and contracting business, L.E. Rose Incorporated, and to marry Ann Kane Rose, the love of his life. Larry was a very successful contractor and a consummate professional with an extraordinary work ethic. He worked in many of Farmington's historic buildings and grandest historical homes in the Farmington Valley. His strong attention to detail and ability to understand and work with his customers was a hallmark of his success. He was proud to march in Farmington's 350th anniversary parade in 2008 as it was also the 75th anniversary of the business his Father started in 1933. In addition, Larry and Ann undertook the renovation of several personal residences in Farmington and Westbrook. Larry was a devoted baseball coach in Farmington, he also was a director of the Riverside Cemetery committee and the Farmington Fire Service Board. After raising their family, Larry and Ann spent several years wintering in Englewood, FL. Stories of "Vacation" Larry traveling around Florida with family and friends are legendary. Summers in Connecticut were family oriented in Old Kelsey Point, Westbrook, where swimming, happy hour, cookouts and Sunday morning breakfast were a weekly occurrence. Larry became a regular at Daisy's ice cream truck and bought everyone there an ice cream every night - no matter what time she came by! Larry leaves behind his devoted wife of 63 years Ann Kane Rose, three sons, James (Heidi), Stephen (Pam), Dan (Allison) and daughter Diane Lipari (John). His treasured grandchildren, Julie Rose, Tim, Jeff, & Matt Rose, Helen & Michael Rose and Margo & Carina Lipari. He also leaves his brother Thomas Rose (Pat), many LaMonica & Kane family members, as well as close friends of the Carroccia, Garro and Harris Families. Special thanks to Dr. Hardik Amin at Yale Neurology and the staff at Arbor Rose and Jerome Home for the excellent care Larry received in the past year. Friends may call at The Ahern Funeral Home, 111 Main St., Rt. 4, Unionville on Friday, November 11, 2022 from 4pm to 7pm. Funeral procession from The Ahern Funeral Home will be Saturday, November 12, 2022 at 10:15 AM followed by the Funeral Liturgy in the Church of St. Patrick, 110 Main St., Farmington at 11 AM. Burial will follow in the family plot at Riverside Cemetery, Farmington. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Tunxis Hose Company #1, P.O. Box 215, Unionville, CT 06085 or Farmington Little League, P.O. Box 324, Farmington, CT 06034. To send online condolences to the family, please visit www.ahernfuneralhome.com.
