Her memorial service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 27, at Perkins Church of Christ at 1100 Lovers Lane. Rodger Schwenn, of Lawton will officiate. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Ernestine was born on July 15, 1938 to Ernest Johnson and Fannie Simpson in Louisville, Ky. She married Alphonso Kilgore on Dec. 26, 1956 in Louisville. They later divorced in 1982.
Ernestine was a seamstress at Kellwood. She was a member of Church of Christ. She was a member of the Eastern Star and the Girl Scouts of America. God and her family were her strongholds. She loved all and made them feel like her own family. Telling colorful stories was her specialty and at times her humor called for pranks making life with her a blessing; making others smile was her brand of sharing God's light. Being a military wife made her strong and able to make life-long friends; she will be missed by all. The family would like to thank Westhaven Nursing Home for their care and love of our mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Fannie Johnson; three sisters, Dora, Mary Helen and Louise; various aunts and uncles.
She is survived by son, Alphonso Jack Jr. Kilgore, III; daughter, Cheryl McLean and husband Marvin; daughter, Diane Kilgore; son, Dwayne Kilgore and wife Rosemarie; daughter, Terrie Willis and husband Harlie; daughter, Belinda Flynn and husband Kyle; grandchildren, Marvin McLean, Jr. and wife Cleo, Marquita McLean, Michael Kilgore, Francesca Curry, Paula Deaton, Jessica Akers, Brittany Kilgore-McElfresh, Justina White, Crystal Willis, Sydney Flynn, Nicholas Kilgore, Caitlyn Willis, Jackson Flynn, Whitley Flynn and Zachary Kilgore; brother, Wallace Graham; sister, Irene Richie and 21 great-grandchildren. Offering my condolences to the Kilgore family. I'm sure it was a pleasure to be around someone who loves making others laugh. Humor helps a person to cope in many situations and with may situations. Please read Proverbs 17:22.
