Michael M. Ohlhauser, 66, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Michael’s family will host a celebration of life from 4 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Wanatee Park (Squaw Creek Park) at the Prairie Oak Lodge, 4201 Big Bluestem Drive, Marion, Iowa 52302. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids assisted the family.
Michael was born November 7, 1958, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Ernie and Julia (Hard) Ohlhauser. He graduated from Kennedy High School and went on to earn his CDL. Michael married Mary Jean Prull on May 9, 1992, in Monticello, Iowa. He worked for Midland Transportation and later JE Adams, retiring in January 2025. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, smoking meats, cigars, bourbon, and spending time with family and friends. He also liked going to auctions and gun shows. Michael loved meeting new people and never knew a stranger.
Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Mary Jean Ohlhauser; children, Crystal (Bevin) Benhart, Nic Ohlhauser (Wayne Reeves), Shiloh Ohlhauser, and Cheyanne Ohlhauser; grandchildren, Bryton Benhart (Felicia DeSplinter), Brady Benhart, and Kaidan Benhart; great-grandchild, Basil Benhart; father, Ernie Ohlhauser; brothers, Mark (Wendy) Ohlhauser and Kerry (Lori) Ohlhauser; sister, Teresa Ohlhauser (Garren Horning); many nieces and nephews; and the dog he never wanted but fell in love with, Roxie.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Julia Ohlhauser; and his grandparents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a fund to be established at a later date.
