Esther Marilyn Lince

Esther Marilyn Gage Lince, of Acworth GA, formerly Rome, NY, passed away on September 2, 2025, at the age of 97.

Born on April 6, 1928, Esther was the daughter of the late Martha Carroll and Lloyd L. Gage. Esther grew up in Westernville, NY and graduated high school from Holland Patent Central School, Holland Patent, NY.

Esther was married to Leland Prophet after high school. He died in 1945.

On May 28, 1947, she married Robert D. Lince in Baltimore, MD. They resided in Rome for many years raising their family. Robert died November 1, 1989.

Employed for nearly 30 years by the Rome Sentinel Company, Esther served as the secretary for George W. Waters, the Daily Sentinel's publisher, and Russell Fielding, the chief financial officer. She was later employed by Rome Nursing Home.

Esther was a member of Acworth United Methodist Church and had been an active volunteer for many years in the church office.

She was predeceased by her brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd C. "Bud" Gage and his wife Cora Gage and their daughter Susan Gage.

She is survived by three sons and their wives: Lloyd R. "Skip" Prophet and his wife Katherine, Bradenton, FL; David E. Lince and his wife Juliana, Dublin, OH, Michael D. Lince and his wife Judy, Acworth, GA and a daughter-in-law Gwen Lince, Woodstock, GA. Esther made her home in Acworth since 1995.

She is also survived by five cherished grandchildren: Bradley Lince, Woodstock, Robyn (Brian) Dailey, Canton, GA, Robert C. ( Lexie) Lince, Myrtle Beach, SC, Morgan (Spencer) Arnold, Canton, and Whitney Lince (Alex) Dauby, Canton, and six very special great grandchildren: Dillon Dailey, Reagan Dailey, Ava Grace Dauby, Theodore Dauby, Walker Arnold and Jameson Arnold, all of Canton. Esther is also survived by a niece Cynthia (Richard) Abdou, Rome and a very special great nephew and his wife, Timothy and Sharon Lince of Danielsville, GA.

Upon Esther's request there will be no visitation. She will be cremated and her ashes buried at a later date next to her husband in Rome Cemetery. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 13 at Acworth United Methodist Church at 2 p.m., preceded by a meet and greet for family and friends at 1 p.m. in the church.
