Ethel L. Barcott, 94, of Anacortes, passed away at her home on Saturday, July 30, 2016. She was born on December 19, 1921 in Anacortes, Washington to parents Wiley and Katie (Cookston) Norman.

Ethel met and married the love of her life, Francis Barcott on October 4 1941. Together they had four children, Lynn (Lydia) Barcott, Donna (Gary) Merlino, Larry Barcott and Deanna (Mel) Elvebak.

Ethel devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mom, loving and nurturing them and the grandchildren, great grands and great great-grands who followed after them. Holidays and family gatherings were highlights of Ethel's life. She felt blessed to have led a long life.

Ethel is preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Francis.

She is survived by her children and their spouses, eight grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Ethel's family would like to take the opportunity to acknowledge the compassionate services of Dr. Hogge; Tina Asseln a special friend and caregiver and her live-in caregiver, Sally Brown.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests remembrances in name of Ethel be made to one of the following: American Heart Association, American Diabetes Association or to Hospice NW.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. following the 10:30 a.m. Rosary Recital at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Anacortes, WA.

A Luncheon Reception was hosted by the family immediately following the Mass at the Father Auer Center.

Arrangements are in the care of Evans Funeral Chapel and Crematory Inc., Anacortes and the San Juan Islands.
