Ethel Laverne "LaVerne" Lann

Ethel Laverne Lann, also known as LaVerne, passed away on November 18, 2023, in Houston, Texas, at the age of 99. She was born on October 3, 1924, in Amory, MS, to Aretha Weaver Davis and Dred Davis. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, as well as her brother, Drennon Davis, and her daughter, Janice Lann.

Ethel is survived by her loving family, including her son, Morris Jerome Lann, Jr., and his wife, Laura Hudson Lann; her son, John Franklin Lann, and his wife, Christina Biehle Lann; her grandchildren, Sarah Lann Henry, Emily Lann Newman, Caston Hartwell Lann, Garret Davis Lann, Hudson Alan Lann, Justin Nicolas Lann, and Mikaela Renae Lann; her great grandchildren, Sloan Elizabeth Henry, Hudson Henry, John Davis Henry, Kate Newman and Tom Newman.

Ethel attended Amory High School and went on to have a successful career at Hudson Engineering and McDermott Oil And Gas.

In her free time, Ethel enjoyed pursuing her hobbies, which included music, singing, playing the piano, and oil painting. She had an incredible sense of humor and loved to laugh.

Ethel's life was enriched by her faith, and she worshipped at Spring Branch Community Church and First Baptist Church Houston.

Her presence will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but her memory will forever live on in their hearts.
