Ethel Wilson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 8, 2016.
Ethel Bernice Wilson, 91, of Kersey, passed away April 7, 2016 at Hospice of Northern Colorado. Ethel was born December 19, 1924 in Greeley, Colorado to Fred Amos and Annie Elizabeth (Golby) Patterson. She grew up in towns in Weld County. She had 10 brothers and sisters.

Ethel married Paul P. Wilson on January 4, 1944 in Greeley. He passed away August 20, 1984. After their marriage, they lived in the Greeley and Kersey Communities. Ethel was a very active member of the Salvation Army and served as their secretary.

Ethel was one of the first four people hired at Woolco Department Store in Greeley. When the store closed, she was the last person to clock out. At that time, she retired and enjoyed her home life. She especially enjoyed growing her flowers and tending to her yard which was always green during growing season.

Ethel made hundreds of quilts, many of which she sold. She loved to watch Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and Dancing with the Stars, and was an avid Denver Broncos and Colorado Rockies fan.

Ethel is survived by three daughters Elizabeth Murray of Vancouver, Washington, Mabel Wilson of Greeley and Kay Parker (Doug) of Vancouver, Washington; two sons Paul Wilson Jr. of Evans and Charlie Wilson of Kersey; a sister Elsie Seal of Berthoud; 23 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her best friend Rex the dachshund. She was preceded in death by her husband; a son Ronnie Wilson; four great grandchildren; four brothers and 5 sisters.

Visitation will be take place from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at Stoddard Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 13, 2016 at Salvation Army Church, 1119 6th Street, Greeley. Interment will follow at Linn Grove Cemetery.
