Etta Pflasterer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 14, 2025.
Etta "Bonnie" Pflasterer, 87, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away peacefully on April 10, 2025. Born Etta McGough on August 13, 1937, in Dorchester, Illinois, she brought joy and warmth to all who knew her throughout her long and vibrant life.

Bonnie was the beloved wife of the late Philip Pflasterer and the cherished daughter of Doice and Lee Etta McGough. She was preceded in death by her siblings Wanda, Shirley, Dolly, and Donald. Her legacy continues through her devoted children Ray and Angel; her adored grandsons Ian and Quinton; and many loving nieces and nephews.

A proud resident of Phoenix for decades, Bonnie was a pillar of her community and a longtime member of Phoenix Bible Church (formerly Bethany Bible), where she worshipped faithfully for nearly 50 years. She found great joy in teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, greeting members and participating in women's Bible study groups. Always eager to lend a hand, Bonnie helped with countless church functions over the years.

Bonnie lived life with boundless energy and an open heart. She had a gift for making others feel welcome and valued. Whether serving as a room mother or volunteering with the PTA during her children's school years, she was always present-offering rides to school events or cheering from the sidelines. Her enthusiasm for life was contagious. She loved having the neighborhood kids over for swimming and threw holiday parties every year.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Bonnie was a passionate basketball fan who proudly supported the University of Arizona Wildcats and the Phoenix Suns. Her love for sports became a family tradition spanning three generations-a legacy of superfans that began with her spirited cheers. She also enjoyed playing bridge with friends, lunching with friends and participating in senior line dance classes.

Bonnie was a former member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority and found deep fulfillment in fellowship with other women throughout her life. Her kindness, generosity, and joyful spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she met.

She will be remembered not only for her devotion to family and faith but also for her radiant smile, infectious laughter, and unwavering willingness to help others. Bonnie truly was a joy to be around.

Loved Aunt Bonnie and her always bubbly personality. We had many family dinners when she was a young woman where laughter abounded and happy stories were shared.
