Eugene Devries Obituary
HEBRON - Eugene H. "Doc" DeVries, 83, of Hebron, died Thursday, Oct. 7, 2004, at Alden Terrace Nursing Center in McHenry.
He was born May 29, 1921, in Alden Township, to Claude and Tena (Den Besten) DeVries. He married Marian Prohaska on May 27, 1944, in Riverside.
He was a farmer for many years, then became a self-employed can and bulk milk hauler. He then became a heavy equipment operator for McHenry Sand and Gravel in McHenry, where he worked for 20 years.
He served two terms as a Hebron village trustee and was a member of the Hebron Fire Department for many years.
Survivors include two sons, James (Leslie) DeVries and Thomas (Teresa) DeVries, both of Hebron; three grandchildren, Bridget, Nicholas and Joseph; two sisters, Helen Schulz and Agnes (Robert) Schultz, both of Hebron; and a brother, Francis (Lila) DeVries of Lake Geneva, Wis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, on April 17, 1977; a daughter, Charlene; and a brother, John.
The private family service will take place at Linn-Hebron Cemetery in Hebron at a later date.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Hebron Rescue Squad.
