Eugene R. Hilbert

Eugene R. Hilbert, 75, of Bethlehem, formerly of Oley, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 10 at Lehigh Valley Hospital Hospice. Born in Boyertown, he was the son of the late Arthur F. and Ethel M. (Rhoades) Hilbert. Gene was a 1958 graduate of Boyertown HS. He went on to receive his Associates degree in Accounting from Reading Business School in 1960. Gene worked for MetEd/GPU for 35 years, retiring in 1995. He went on to work at Whitetail Golf Course in Bath as a starter for 20 years. He enjoyed golfing and watching the Phillies, and loved fantasy football. Survivors: Surviving are daughters Beth Lorah, wife of Scott, of Allentown, Anne Sheeler, wife of Jeff Sr., of Fleetwood and Jill Howard of Oley; and grandchildren Jeffrey Sheeler Jr., Abbey Sheeler, Jamie Hartz, Ashley Lorah, Erica Howard and Jessica Howard. Services: A memorial service will be Monday, Aug. 15, 1:30pm at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 1020 E. Phila. Ave., Gilbertsville.
