Published by Vancouver Sun and The Province from Jun. 6 to Jun. 7, 2006.
Macdonald _ Eugene (Gene). On June 5th, 2006 Eugene (Gene) Macdonald, aged 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Southlands surrounded by his ducks, cat, horses and garden. He will be sadly missed by his children, Nancy, Jane, Bill and Diana. Devoted older brother of Bettie Lou and proud Bompa of Lyndon, Mitchell, Angus, and Stuart. Loving uncle of Susan and Jonathan Merz and Dave and Barb Black. Son-in-law Bruno will sorely miss his on-site construction supervisor. Sonia Pinson and Mel Adam will miss Gene's sense of humor and wonderful stories. Special thanks to Dr. Daniel Ngui and the nurses at Pacific Spirit Health Centre and Shirley and Brian, palliative care nurses from the Vancouver Home Hospice Program, who all supported Gene's wish to remain in his beloved home. Funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 8th at 1:30 PM at Saints Peter and Paul Church, 1430 West 38th Avenue, Vancouver, with a tea to follow. Christian burial will take place on Friday, June 9th at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please send a donation in Gene's name to the Southlands Foundation, c/o Southlands Riding Club, 7075 Macdonald Street, Vancouver, BC V6N 1G2 (604-263-4817). My hope is constant in thee.

Dear Betty Lou,

I will be with you in Spirit at the funeral Mass for your dear brother.Prior commitments prevent me from being there in person.

How wonderful it was that Gene was able to be in his home surrounded by his wonderful animals and the beauty of Southlands.

With much love,

Airlie
