Eugene Phillips Obituary
Under the care of Hernando Pasco Hospice and his loving family. Born December 30th, 1928 in Jackson, OH son of Leslie and Hazel (Moodispaugh) Phillips and moved to Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa in 1988 from Allen Park, MI. He was preceded in death by his brother Glendon L. "Dave" Phillips. Survived by his loving wife of 39 years Mary Eleanor Phillips of Homosassa; three daughters, Leslie Ann Watts and her husband Steve of Pittsburgh, PA, Cheryl Lynn Schmid of Florida and Valerie Dee Nemeth of Allen Park, MI; sister Carolyn Allison of Jackson, OH; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Eugene graduated from Jackson High School in June 1948.
He started working at DT&I Railroad, and was drafted into the Army January 5, 1951, a veteran of Korea, and was discharged October 5, 1952. After serving his Country, he returned to DT&I Railroad October 1952 and retired from GTW Railroad in December 1988 as Field Mechanical Officer after 39 years of service. Member and Past Exalted Ruler of Jackson Elks Lodge. Former member of Jackson American Legion and joined the Faith Baptist Church of Homosassa Springs in 1990. He had an artistic talent using it in various Civic activities.
He was loved by his many friends in Jackson, OH and his Church family. Funeral services will be held 10:30 A M, Friday, December 4th at the Faith Baptist Church of Homosassa Springs. Burial will follow in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. Friends will received from 5 P M until 7 P M, Thursday, at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa Springs, Fl.
Memorials may be given to the Faith Baptist Church in memory of Eugene.
