Oh my God, I had no idea that Gene had passed. My deepest sympathy goes out to Frances Schayer and Gene's family as well. Gene was the first person to approach my husband at the Fish Fry at St Catherines, and He got him to join the Knights of Columbus and get his 2nd degree. Thank you Gene for bringing him into a good group of Christian men. He will definitely be missed and I know Frances will miss him as well. Another good one has gone to be with our Lord, now he has Frank and Gene up there to contend with. Amen.

It was last summer that I got to meet you Gene and it felt like we had known each other forever. You welcomed me like your son, visited me in Chicago and took me to my first ever horse race... Memories I shall forever cherish. May the Good Lord grant you rest in His Kingdom.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Gene's family. We didn't really know Gene, but he was our usher at Mass at St. Catherine's for a very long time. Even in that role, we could see a dedicated, humble, gentle, good man. I know his family and friends will dearly miss him. Even those who hardly knew him will miss him and his kindness.

Our deepest and most heartfelt sympathy goes out to Schayer family and his wife Frances Brucker-Schayer, as well as his church family of St. Catherine of Siena in Kennesaw. Gene was a good and faithful servant of God, serving with the Knights of Columbus and as a Eucharistic minister. Rest grant on to him, O Lord!
