Dear Tom, Bill, Mike, and Families,
Thank you for sharing some of the meaningful highlights of your mother's life! They are very similar to my dear mother's life experiences. She passed away on September 9, 9:00 a.m. CST, 2011 - 9-9-9- at age 99! (Obit. www.MyersMortuary, Lebanon IN)
I am certain that there is a 'mother-sized hole' in your hearts, that can never be filled! May the many marvelous memories that you have of her, far surpass the pain of not having her earthly presence! When you are missing her so, just look Heavenwardly, and see her walking hand-in-hand with God, with a smile on her face! May God grant all of you comfort and a peace that passes all understanding!
In Deepest Sympathy and Prayers,
Peggy Lindley Ewing, Anaheim

Tom, my mother, Martha Drew Lindley was Daphne Kelley Cavin's best friend. You interviewed Daphne, widow of Raymond Kelley, for your book, "The Greatest Generation."
(Such an outstanding book for us of THAT generation - Thank you!)
Her daughter Nancy Cavin Pitts, has now written a book about her mother's early years and her marriage to Raymond, who was killed at Normandy. The title of her book is "When You Come Home," based upon the poem Daphne sent to Raymond, while he was overseas. It can be ordered through Amazon.com.

Dearest Brokaw Family,
My sincere condolences to you all on the passing of your Mother. I have been a follower of the Brokaw family since Tom's early days on the local news. I never met your mother but,it was always nice to know she was nearby. By the thoughts others have expresed, she was a dear friend and the very "heart" of your family. Nothing will ever take the place of a Mothers love.
With warm thoughts,

My mind has been full of the rich experiences and memories I have with Grandma Jean. We are ever grateful for the profound influence she has had on our family...and those who knew her. In many respects we were all "winking buddies" who treasured her "critiques" on a range of topics. One can readily picture a continuation of these attributes as she joins Grandpa Red, her sister, parents and others who embrace her arrival on the other side of the veil. In perfect body and mind she is now at peace. We love you and will miss you until we meet again at the Saviors feet.

My condolences to Jean's family. I only got to know her during her retirement years at Villa Valencia and found her to be a warm and friendly person. From her "winking buddy", Ron Sullivan

Tom and family,
Red and Jean both were a fixture of my childhood as we were backyard neighbors. I remember so many days walking home from school to find your dad in the garage working on one of his many magnificent creations. Your mom ALWAYS had lemon drops on hand for our visits.
I remember interviewing your dad for a term paper I wrote in the 6th grade. They promised me a dinner at The Library restaurant in Yankton if I got an "A", which I did.
They were both the kind of people who will forever leave an impression on your heart, and be a part of who you are as a person going forward.
I think of you and your girls often as I have thought of Jean over these years.
Wishing you all peace and joy in your memories of the lifetime you've shared together.
