Eugenia Clay Canady, of Asheville, North Carolina, passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025. The family will hold a private service in Omega, Georgia to celebrate the life of Mrs. Canady.

Mrs. Canady, age 91, was born January 9, 1934, in Monticello, Georgia to the late Eugene and late Mary Clay. She was married for 64 years to the late Robert Thomas Canady. She and her husband were long time residents of Cumming, Georgia and were members of the First Baptist Church. They both spent years volunteering at the nonprofit organization The Place in Forsyth County, Georgia and had an unwavering commitment to serving their community and supporting those in need. Mrs. Canady and her husband then moved to Asheville, North Carolina to be in the care of their son, Tim.

Mrs. Canady retired from State Farm Insurance after a long and respected career. She and her husband spent their remaining years at Harmony at Reynolds Mountain in Asheville, North Carolina. She was very active in the Harmony community and established many lasting friendships with fellow residents and staff members. Mrs. Canady was well-loved during her time at Harmony and touched the hearts of all she crossed paths with. She enjoyed spending time with her dear friends, reading novels, and working on her beloved puzzles and coloring books.

Mrs. Canady was a deeply compassionate individual who had a genuine love for volunteerism, altruism, and uplifting those around her. She leaves behind a meaningful legacy of a life well lived in service to others. Mrs. Canady always exhibited unconditional benevolence and her life was an inspiration to her children and grandchildren who loved her immensely.

Mrs. Canady is survived by her sister, JoAnn Clay, her sons Tim Canady (Lee) and Greg Canady, her grandchildren, Vivien Dumford (Joe) and Marshal Canady, and her grand-dogs: Toby, Callie, Queso, Hank, and Django.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to The Place, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals and families meet essential needs while guiding them toward long-term self-sufficiency through education, workforce training, and holistic support. https://www.theplacega.org/
