Lauren and Merideth, I was so shocked and saddened at the loss of your mother. You two more than anyone know what a truly amazing human being she was. Her love and compassion as a person are what made her one of the best teachers I had ever worked with. I still think of you, Lauren, as the five year old in my kindergarten class. I have fond memories of working with your mom in your kitchen during the summers as we made puppets and things for our classroom. My heart breaks for you and all of your family. I pray that God will grant you peace and comfort in the memories you have. Know that she made this world a better place and touched many lives in so many ways. with love, brigette mcconnell

How tragic, the earth has given over one more angel. Eugenia was priceless. Back when Eugenia first graced Woodridge with her brilliance, my son worked as a part time custodian. I wish I could remember all the creatures he brought home to tend because she didn't want to leave them in her classroom alone when school was not in session. Most memorable was the rabbit who came to live with us and was aptly re-named "Stupid". He nipped the little ones so Eugenia had to find another home - Chris' heart was almost as big as hers and Stupid was a source of laughter and stories, continuing to this day.
The world is just a bit dimmer today without that brilliant smile and vibrant personality.

Dear Sue,
My heart is breaking for you and your family. I will always remember the wonderful times we had with Eugenia. She was like a sister to me too. She would always let us tag-along with her--swimming at Waterworks, concerts at Blossom, joyrides, and taking us to school in her VW Bug. I hope you find comfort knowing what an impact she made on so many lives and that she will always be remembered in our hearts.

I am so sorry for you loss. My children Jonathan and Christopher were very said to hear that she passed away. My children absolutely loved her. They say she was the best Teacher that they have ever had. She was so loving and cared about them so much. I believe they would not be were they are at today if they would not have had her as a teacher. She will be sadly missed. Jonathen And Christopher Casey

I am in shock! My family moved to KY 2 years ago and I was sick to hear of her passing. My last memory of her is selling her our TV and armour and she was so excited!! Always a happy friend. She was a true source of strength for me and my family in dealings with my son Dylan. What a sweet loving fabulous teacher that will be sorely missed at that school. I am so so sorry to her family she leaves behind and a neighborhood that loved her.

I am so so sad to hear about your loss, she was one of my favorite teachers of all. She was my 1st grade teacher. I loved her smile and great imagination. She was a wonderful person inside and out, had a heart of gold, every student she taught was lucky to have her as a teacher. She will be greatly missed by me and my family personally.

To the entire Mignogna and Garman family...I am so very sorry to hear of your loss, and a loss it is!! I knew Eugenia and her family all my life and to hear this really lets one know how fragile life is. From the days when both our families lived on 8th Street to when her family moved to 9th St and mine to Meier Place we were neighbors. It was a great time and a great neighborhood. Our backyards met one another so growing up it was not uncommon to see Eugenia, her sister Susan or her mom and dad out back.......all very friendly and neighborly. Always happy to see you, exchange a smile or hello is how I remember the Mignognas.
Eugenia came from a great family, a family that had values and principles and from reading the comments I see she carried those teachings into her life as an adult and made a positive impact on many children and adults. While I'd not seen her much since we'd all grown up, and moved away, I know the world is a better place because of Eugenia and all the lessons she learned growing up in her loving family. To her daughters I am sorry for your loss as I am sure she was a wonderful mother. To her sister, Susan, I am sorry as you have lost a wonderful sister. And to her father I am so sorry as I know you lost someone very dear to you as well. I can only hope that all the happy thoughts and memories you gathered with her through the years help you in these difficult times.

Lauren & Merideth,
I am so deeply sorry for the loss of your mom. She was such a wonderful, warm person and I thought of her as my "mom away from mom" in high school when I practically lived at your house. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.

My son Drew has thrived in Mrs. Garman's class this school year. There are not enough words to express the appreciation we have for the time she invested in him. Drew caught hold of your Mother's excitement for learning, along with love of animals, and plans to keep running with it to make his Mrs. Garman proud. May God give each of you strength, comfort, and peace during this difficult time ~ The Rush Family.

Dear Sue,
Not only have you given me the gift of your friendship, but you also introduced me to your wonderful sister and her daughters. The times that I spent with Eugenia were always a delight, she was fun, witty and generous, always easy to be with. As I became acquainted with Lauren and Merideth, I realized what special girls she had raised. The three of them made me feel as if I were part of the family, as they did for so many others. I will miss Eugenia and my heart hurts for you, Lauren, Merideth, Emma and your Dad. May God bless you all.

The last time I saw Eugenia I was fortunate to be able to go into her classroom and watch her teach. It's a wonderful experience to see children being formed by love. Eugenia had a love for children that made a difference. May that love live on in her students and her family and friends.

Eugenia has been such an inspiration, leader, and friend to all lives she has touched. She helped mentor me many years ago and taught me so many invaluable things not only about teaching, but about life. Our district has lost a true hero who always was willing to go above and beyond what was expected of her, especially for all of those fortunate children who were lucky enough to meet her.(Although she would probably say she was the lucky one to meet and inspire eachof them). May peace be with your family.

My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time. My daughter was fortunate enough to have "looped" with Mrs. Garman in 1st and 2nd grade from '99-'01 and she was hands-down the BEST teacher we have ever known. I asked her to loop with them through 12th grade, but she couldn't help me out with that since there were so many other children that she wanted to help. We will always remember her and the picnics at Wyoga Lake. She was such a positive force with the kids both in and out of the classroom and she will be greatly missed by the Woodridge community.

Lauren and Merideth,
I will always remeber your mom for her willingness to help anyone adult or child. She was one of the first teachers whom I was honored to work with at Woodreidge Primary School. She was a true blessing to have has a teacher and a friend. Her willingness to help any child in need was evident in and out of her classroom. I had students who did not even have her as a teacher but visited her room each morning. I will miss seeing her smile and her "fun" shoes!!!! She will never be forgotten by many.

Lauren and Merideth (& family):
Like others have already expressed- the loss of your mom is a complete shock and a huge void that cannot be replaced....I am so sorry you have to even face this, but please know you are not alone...you have an extended family in the Woodridge community.
I was lucky enough to meet you mom through my work with Junior Achievement, then years later as a sub in the district (and her room) and reconnected with her as I student taught at the primary school. Over the years, I came to know her as a teacher, mentor, and friend...for that I am blessed! She shared with me her love of family, students (past & present), friends, & guinea pigs! She was truly one-of-a-kind...no one can fill her shoes (I am not sure how all the car riders will get home without her)...
Thank you for sharing her with all of us...

Lauren and Merideth,
I am in shock and my heart is very sad at this time. Your mom was the first person I met when I started teaching at Woodridge Primary School, 10 years ago. She had a heart bigger than anyone I have ever met. I cannot imagine what you two are feeling, but please know that she touched so many lives in a positive and beautiful way. She ALWAYS gave every child a chance to grow, and flurish in her presence. She saw each child as a gift and helped them achieve all they could- even outside of school. I cannot believe I will not see her again. She was very excited when I told her of my plans to move away for more opportunities, even though I was very sad to leave Woodridge. She saw the potential in every life, and I will always be greatful that I knew her and was lucky enough to work with her. Woodridge Schools has lost a gem. Bless you both for having such a wonderful mother and my thoughts are with you and your family.

To the family of Mrs. Garman,
We are very sorry for your loss. We had only met Mrs. Garman a few times, but she left a great impression on us. Our son came home one day excited to tell us about how if he achieved a certain level in Mrs. Garman's class, that he would get to go on a "date" with her at Friday's. I chuckled and thought that he must have gotten the story wrong. My first time meeting her, I asked her about the story...and she confirmed it! How often do you come across a teacher like that? Her love of the children was evident and I know my son, Kyle, will truly miss her.
Much sympathy,
The Hoover Family

Aunt Eugenia,
I can't believe this really happened.. I remember when I was little and afraid of the thundertstorms you would hold my hand and we would count the seconds before the thunder. It made me feel all better and totally forget about the storm. My aunt was one of the greatest women I have ever known. She never spoke badly of anyone and was always more than happy to lend a hand or an ear whatever it may be. I only can hope to grow up to be as wonderful woman as she. She is a true hero and I will never forget her she has changed all of the lives she has ever touched. I love you Aunt Eugenia and you will be missed more than words could ever say.

Dear Sue,
I met Eugenia through many days of student pick up at Woodridge, of course we talked as if we had always known each other, as she had that kindness and ease about her, and through just a few pick ups I found out that she was your sister, I haven't seen you in many years but you were always my good school friend, and I wanted you to know I am thinking of you, I really liked Eugenia so much, I know many children that were lucky to have her as a teacher, and they all say the same thing... "She was my favorite teacher." You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers, may God Bless You and comfort you at this time of sorrow.
