Eugenia Singer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from May 12 to May 13, 2023.
We are sad to announce the passing of Eugenia ("Gigi") Sayre Singer of Scarsdale, New York. She died on April 13th, 2023, from a lung disease caused by exposure to toxins when she fled the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Gigi was born on June 30th, 1953, in Neptune, NJ to Daisy (Fischler) and Emanuel Singer. She grew up in Glen Rock, New Jersey, attending Glen Rock High School and also studying ballet at the School of American Ballet. After graduation from high school, she attended Sarah Lawrence College and Johns Hopkins University, receiving her BA from Johns Hopkins in 1975. She then went on to earn an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. Her career in finance included jobs in banking and corporate finance at Bankers Trust, Manufacturers Hanover Trust, and JP Stevens, followed by over ten years at Aon.

Gigi's kindness, vivaciousness, and affectionate nature made her loved by many. Her sharp wit, and lyrical way with words always brought a smile to one's face. Gigi loved reading, the opera, watching Columbo, munching on bagels, and meeting friends for lunch.

She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Aaron Justin Singer. She is survived by numerous cousins, second cousins, and friends who will greatly miss her.

Gigi's funeral was held on April 16th at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus, New Jersey. Her funeral can be viewed at https://a2elivestream.com/eugenia-singer/.

We invite you to donate to Gigi's charity of choice, the American Red Cross: https://www.redcross.org/donate/donation.html/.

We got our weekly manicures together. That´s how we met 43 years ago. We exchanged birthday cards for 43 years, only missing my birthday in Sept. 2001. I will always remember our 4 hour lunch dates and have saved every card and letter. I will miss you dearly but you will always be in my heart.

I´m sorry I didn´t know of your passing until 1 month later. You´re letters and Holiday wishes will be missed. I was always amazed at your writing ability to make the smallest hello and goodbye into a manifesto! Will miss you Doll.
