Eugenia Valdez Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 1, 2012.
Eugenia Dolores Villarreal Valdez, 99, of San Diego, Passed away on 9/28/2012. She born was in Huasabas, Sonora, Mexico on November 15th, 1912. Her mother was Romualda Madrid and Father, Teodoro Villarreal. She had 11 siblings, Sisters, Maria De Jesus, Ramona, Mercedez, Paz, Josefina, & Reyna. Brothers, Leandro, Manuel, Alberto, Jorge, & Norberto. Her mother passed when Eugenia was 9 years old. Eugenia Would send her brothers and sister to school while she would stay home to cook, clean and care for her siblings. Her younger sister, Ramona taught Eugenia basic math, reading, and writing skills because Eugenia chose to stay home to care of her brothers and sisters. Eugenia had her first child, Beatriz Lopez, from her first husband who passed away after she was born. The following children she had, Lorenzo, Maria De Jesus, and Alicia were from her second husband who also passed away at an early age. She then married Julian Beltran Valdez who both had 3 more children, Guadalupe, Magdalena, and Enrique. In 1966, Julian and Eugenia and their children immigrated from Mexico to San Diego. Their marriage lasted an amazing 50 years, until Julian passed away. They were both passionately involved in the Sociedad Guadalupana, a religious association that provides leadership in social concerns and perform works of charity. They were also members of the Sociedad Mutualistas De San Ysidro which also helped the local community. Eugenia's passion to help her fellow community members stemmed from her unconditional love of all her family. She is survived by her sons and daughters and over 60 grandchildren, great grandchildren and has been fortunate enough to be a great great great grandmother. Eugenia's passions were, cooking, family and love. Her cooking was regarded by many the most delicious food ever, from tamales to menudo, and of course her famous pinto beans. She loved gathering all of the family together on a weekly basis and cooking for everyone and seeing everyone happy together. Her goals were bringing happiness and love to all family and friends. Intent on keeping the family bond and love strong she eventually organized yearly family reunions for the entire family that extended all the way from Mexico to California. Eugenia's proud accomplishment was becoming a U.S. citizen. Toward Eugenia's last years she was cared for tirelessly by her youngest daughter Magdalena, even up to her last days, Eugenia's last and final wishes were seeing all of her family together and loving one another.
