Eva Demlow Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 9, 2024.
Virginia Beach - Eva Lynne Demlow, 79, passed away on July 27, 2024, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. She was born on January 21, 1945, in Iowa to the late Charles and Edna Elizabeth Terwilliger. Eva was best known for her spirit of adventure and her smile that could light up an entire room. As a child, she lived in CSU's Pingree Park with her parents and two sisters. She was always playing with her dog, climbing trees, feeding chipmunks, and catching butterflies. She learned to sew in 4H during elementary school. She used her imagination and talent to create homecoming, prom, and wedding dresses for her daughters, as well as dresses for contestants in the Miss America Pageant. Anyone who knew her recognized her love for creating and sewing all types of fashions. Eva was an excellent student and well-liked by all. In High School, she served as student body secretary in her senior year, and upon graduating from Fort Collins High School in 1963, she received a full scholarship to Colorado State University. During college, she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a minor in Computer Science in 1967. With these, she began an impressive career in computer science working for Martin Marietta on the Apollo Program. During her senior year in college, she married her high school sweetheart, James Demlow, and they had two children: Deborah and Trissana. She continued her career writing the computer code for the MX Missiles, the MARS Rover project, and later worked on the STARS program for Air Traffic Control. She worked in Denver until 1984, then moved to Virginia to work in a think tank. She continued her work in the computer field in Virginia until her retirement in 2020 at the age of 75, which allowed her more time to sew. She started a business called Nursery Nooks, creating custom gifts for babies and toddlers, which she sold at the Virginia Beach weekly craft fair. Her greatest joys in life were her children and grandchildren. As her children grew up, she loved watching them learn and take dance lessons. She was fortunate to live close by as her young grandchildren grew up. She was an integral part of their lives, never missing a game, a meet, a concert, or a play. She was always the team mom or team grandma. She often drove them to and from school and even taught one of them to drive. Beyond her professional endeavors, she was a member of several organizations, including the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Mayflower Society. She stayed in close contact with a few of her high school friends through weekly Zoom calls. She is survived by her daughter Deborah Wald, daughter Trissana Emdadi and her husband Kamran, sister Carol Lee Meyers and her husband Cliff, and sister Mary Charline Polifka and her husband Patrick. Her legacy also lives on through her cherished grandchildren; Anika Wald, Collin Wald, Teagan Emdadi, and Landon Emdadi. Eva Lynne Demlow will be remembered for her dedication to her work, her unrelenting energy, and most importantly, the immense love she shared with her family and friends

I remember Eva in high school in Ft. Collins. We dated a few times & she was really cute & fun to be with!! She married Jim Demlow, a Phi Delt fraternity brother !! Not sure what happened to Jim over the years, but it sounds like she went on to have a Wonderful Occupation & life in Virginia !! It was mentioned by her friends as to how sweet, sincere & wonderful she was !! I would certainly agree with that from our FCHS high school days !! Her sisters were also very nice & as Eva was, very pretty!!
Rest in Peace You Wonderful Lady !!

Katelyn and I enjoyed meeting Eva at the market. She was so sweet. Eva always had a smile and worked so hard to put together some of the cutest children´s outfits. She was the kind of person that If she needed help, you would drop anything to help her. We were so upset to hear the news of her passing. We will miss seeing her.
