Eva Gardner

GARDNER, Eva Mae (Perkins) Our loved and loving wife, mother, and companion passed away quietly on April 15, 2011 in Edmonton at the Lois Hole Hospital for Women, with her family by her side. Born an only child in Calgary, Alberta on 26 December 1930, Eve spent her early years with her parents Mac and Celie in Cadogan, Alberta, then into her teens with her parents in Sexsmith, Alberta. After spending about a year and a half recovering from TB, she moved to Peace River as a young adult in 1951 and started work as a telephone operator with Alberta Government Telephones. In a few years Eve became the Chief Operator at Peace River AGT, and in 1959 she married Ronald John Gardner, who also worked for AGT. Eve was always a voracious and thorough reader of nearly everything that she came across, so after she had properly and well molded her three children into adults she started a Sole Proprietorship called Gardner Indexing Service and taught herself the skill of indexing dozens of books including both editions of the Canadian Encyclopedia. She got "hooked" on genealogy and spent most of her time in later years researching the family trees of herself and Ron. She is dearly missed by her loving husband of 51 years, Ron of Edmonton; children Bob of Edmonton, Tim of Beaumont, Beth of Edmonton; daughters-in-law Crystal, Marion; son-in-law Larry; sisters-in-law May, Carole, Beth, June; grandchildren Tatiana and Cassandra; grandchildren Meghan and Evyn; nine nephews, three nieces. A Memorial Service will be held at a date yet to be determined, but likely the last week of April.
