Evan Thomas McDaniel lived his life with an open heart and kind spirit. He was a beloved son, brother, grandson and friend. Evan spent his early years in Oakdale, Louisiana before moving to Tomball, Texas with his family. He was an avid student and liked by teachers and classmates. Evan started Cub Scouts as a Tiger Cub and had achieved the rank of Life Scout in Troop 113. With Troop 113, Evan went on many scouting campouts throughout Texas and summer camps in Alabama, Colorado, and Tennessee. Evan was recognized as a leader within the troop. He enjoyed playing a variety of sports including many years as a Little League pitcher and offensive lineman for Tomball Junior High and Tomball High School.
In his free time, Evan enjoyed shooting hoops with his beloved sister and bribing her to take him to get ice cream and hanging out with his extended Louisiana family. He loved his grandparents dearly - on trips back to Oakdale he would want to stay an even number of nights so he could equally spend time at their homes. The McDaniel family took many family trips together to the Texas Hill Country, Arkansas, Colorado and most recently Costa Rica. Evan was known for his warm smile and friendliness.
Evan is survived by his parents David & Jenny McDaniel, his sister Lily; grandparents Tom McDaniel & Glenda Ballard McDaniel; Huey & Mary Bertrand; Uncle Chris & Aunt Callie McDaniel and cousins Brennan, Cullen & Aaron; Uncle Scotty & Aunt Suzanne McDaniel and cousins Mary Grace, Mikey & Jake; Uncle Jeff & Aunt Becky Johnson and cousins Nick & Zach and other family members and friends in Louisiana and Texas. He is preceded in death by his grandfather Gerald Henry Johnson, Jr.

I was a close friend to Evan all through elementary school. He was so young but truly ahead of his time, he was a caring and loving kid. Evan had taught me many lessons as we grew up into junior high and out of it. I Signed up for the yearbook class in 8th grade so I could get more time with him going to all of his events or games. He was a truly amazing friend and will always be held close to my heart. You were a great family to an amazing kid. I hope all goes well with your family and you are doing better by now.

David and Jenny, I never really knew your children but I have watched them grow up through pictures on Facebook. You have a beautiful family and it is obvious that you cherish every moment you have together. I can not imagine the pain you are feeling or the void that this tragedy has left in your hearts and that of your precious Lilly. Know that many, many prayers are spoken daily on your behalf and will continue for the months and years to come. Until we meet again
