Sarasota - Eve Brookie "Duch" Adams Jr., a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home in Sarasota, Florida, on January 28, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on February 25, 1946, in the Panama Canal Zone, Eve's life was a rich tapestry of adventure, love, and laughter.

Affectionately nicknamed "Duch" by her parents in memory of a close family friend, Eve spent her early years living in various locations across South America and the United States before her family settled in Virginia Beach. She graduated from the Country Day School and pursued her passion for music at Mary Washington University in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

On August 6, 1966, Eve married Martin H. Adams, the love of her life. Together they shared nearly six decades of unwavering devotion and a mutual love for exploration. Their journey together included raising three children-Brookie, Anne, and Thomas-and traveling the world as a family.

Eve was a creative force who channeled her artistic talents into a successful career as an interior decorator. Known for her impeccable taste and ability to transform spaces into warm and inviting homes, she brought joy and beauty to countless lives through her work.

Her remarkable sense of humor and zany wit endeared her to all who knew her. Eve's laughter could light up any room, and her kind and generous spirit was reflected in the deep and loyal friendships she cultivated throughout her life.

Eve is survived by her devoted husband Martin; her brother The Honorable Thomas Selby Ellis III; her children Brookie, Anne, and Thomas; and her cherished granddaughters Elizabeth, Parker, and Morgen. Each carries forward her legacy of love, humor, and creativity.

Eve's life was one of joy, adventure, and meaningful connections. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

I first met Duch when she came to look at my house in Stonebridge in Aurora, IL because she and Marty were building the same model. We met other new neighbors and enjoyed many good times together in that special neighborhood. Later, both of us ended up retiring to Sarasota with our husbands. Although we didn´t see as much of each other in the last years, I always enjoyed my friendship with Duch and Marty and admired Duch´s artistic talents. She was unique and special, and I feel blessed to have known her. Marty, may God give you and the family comfort in the days ahead. Please know that you are in our prayers.
