Evelyn Marie Adams Basehore passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 13, 2021, from an unknown illness at Crest Pointe Rehabilitation in Point Pleasant, NJ. She was 67. She was born on Wednesday, October 7, 1953, in Point Pleasant, NJ, to the late Harold Richard Shibla and Dorothy Marie Pitts.
Evelyn graduated from Point Pleasant Borough HS circa 1971 and shortly after moved to Nashville, TN. She met and married Herschel Adams there, and their daughter, Tracie, was born in 1975. Evelyn and Tracie moved back to Point Pleasant, NJ, when Tracie was 3 years old, and she and Herschel divorced shortly thereafter. Evelyn met and married Ed Basehore in 1984. Evelyn worked at a variety of jobs, including concessions on the boardwalk, hotel maid, nursing home aide, convenience store clerk, restaurant owner, business owner, and grocery store clerk. She was known for winning the lottery twice. Evelyn was named after the Evelyn’s Restaurant in Belmar, NJ, and Marie for her mother.
Evelyn had an infectious laugh and always found something to giggle about; sometimes she would be laughing so hard about nothing and everyone around her would join in until tears would be running down everyone’s cheeks. Evelyn loved to cook, and she was always trying to feed people; she was known for her holiday baking and giving treats at Christmas. She was kind, never met a stranger, and was always ready with a helping hand. She was well loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Tracie Lynne Adams (Columbia, TN); her stepson Ronald Edwin Basehore (Susan Whittley) and granddaughter Emily (Bradenton, FL); her brother, Richard Vanderveer Shibla (Brick, NJ); her nephew, Jonathan Richard Shibla (Jackie; Jackson, NJ); her sister, Margaret Frances Shibla (Orem, UT); and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and many dear friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Edwin Basehore (2014), and her parents, Harold (1982) and Dorothy (2011) Shibla.
Colonial Funeral Home, Brick is in charge of arrangements.

I was sorry to hear of Evelyn's passing. She was always kind to me when I was a young-un working summers and winter holidays at the 7-eleven. I hope that memories of her kindness and her sense of humor bring comfort to the family.

Eve is a great sister and very generous. I love her and missed seeing her since my last visit in 2014. She really is all the things spoken of in her obituary, and I miss her. I look forward to the day when we will be reunited in Heaven.
