EVELYN MABEL BORBA DEC 4, 1917 - FEB 12, 2010 Evelyn Mabel Borba, 92 of Modesto, CA passed away on February 12, 2010 at Aurelia's Loving Care Home in Modesto with family at her bedside. She was born in Madison, Nebraska on December 4, 1917 being the eighth of 15 children born to Frank and Anna Keimig. She was raised in Estelline, SD and graduated from high school in Gary, SD. Evelyn moved to Gustine, CA in 1940 where she met and married Louie D. Borba. She had 3 daughters, Jeanette Reehl, Arlene Lichty and Kay Staggs and one son, David Borba. After her husband's death in 1958 she finished raising her children and returned to school earning her Associated Arts Degree from Modesto Junior College and became a Licensed Vocational Nurse. She worked at Westside Community Hospital in Newman. She went on to become a Certified Respiratory Therapist and continued working at Westside Hospital and also at Del Puerto Hospital in Patterson. In 1986 she moved to Modesto. Her hobbies included sewing, crafts, gardening and oil painting. She was a member of Our Lady of Miracles Society and Ladies Auxiliary V.F.W. in Gustine and of St Joseph's Senior's in Modesto. She is survived by daughters, Jeanette Reehl of Livermore, Arlene Lichty and Kay Staggs of Modesto and son, David Borba of Gustine; granddaughters, Michelle Amorin of Pleasanton, Annette Amorin and Kimberly Myers of Livermore, Chandra Cunha, Melinda and Tamara Staggs, Andria Borba all of Modesto, Amy Corneille of Ceres and Rebecca Pate of Fort Dix, NJ. Also survived by sisters, Jolenta Hinsvark of Woodburn, OR., Veronica Linnerman of Estelline SD.; brothers, Frances and Maynard Keimig also of Estelline, SD. and 14 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by husband, Louie; parents, Frank and Anna; granddaughter, Cynthia Graves and 4 brothers and 6 sisters. A Visitation will be held from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, Thursday, February 18th followed by a Rosary at 7:00 pm at Hillview Funeral Chapel, 515 1st Avenue, Gustine. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, February 19th at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles, 370 Linden Avenue, Gustine. Interment to follow at Hills Ferry Cemetery, 1334 Stuhr Road, Newman. Remembrances may be made to: Our Lady of Miracles Educational Center, 370 Linden Avenue, Gustine, CA 95322 or Community Hospice, 4368 Spyres Way, Modesto, CA 95356. We are so sorry for your loss. Aunt Evie was a great lady, always with a smile in her voice & on her face and always so positive. Your trips to
S.D. are such a pleasant memory for me. We hope ALL you memories help you through this difficult time. God Bless all of you.

Our condolences to David, Kaye, Jeanette, and Arlene. I have many fond memories and darn good times when the Borbas came to SD. THe phote reminds me of Grandma.

You have our deepest sympathy. I remember Aunt Evelyn always having a sparkle in her eyes. I can still hear her laugh. I looked forward to her visits to SD to see Mom & Dad (Frances & Francis Keimig). I know she is in a happier place now. Love & Blessings, Kathy (Keimig) Rasmussen
