Evelyn Corsini Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 24, 2013.
Evelyn Corsini, 83, entered her journey into eternity on March 22, 2013, facing death at her home in La Verne, California the same way living her life's journey on earth, with confidence that what she trusted God for would actually happen, giving her assurance about the things she could not see.

Born November 26, 1929 and raised in New York - until her marriage to Alexander Corsini - Evelyn moved to Los Angeles, California in 1950. There she would bear and raise her six children and unforgettably impact the world around her. Moving to and settling in Temple City and then Rosemead, California, Evelyn gave life to and raised her four sons Romolo Corsini, Giuliano Corsini, Michael Corsini, and Alexander Corsini, and two daughters Maria Corsini-Reden and Marguerita Alvis, also serving as a surrogate mother to other family and many of their friends, by whom she was also known as "Mrs. C"
As a passionate woman, Evelyn had as much depth as she did diversity in her appreciation for and pursuits of life's offerings. Evelyn loved and was fascinated by the future and the ideas of good it offered humanity. In Manhattan's late 1940s, she began working in the new industry of computer technology as a data entry key punch operator. Evelyn's career involvement with technology continued in Southern California from the 1950s until her retirement in the 1990s, working as a data processor in a support role at such places as Cal Tech and on such projects as those involving aerospace and the Hubble Telescope.

As for the arts, Evelyn had a deep appreciation. Evelyn was a big-screen movie connoisseur and she loved opera. Music and making song was core to her being. Evelyn's children regularly heard and enjoyed a song or hum on her lips. With a beautiful soprano voice, Evelyn sang from her soul, powerfully ministering to the hearts of those who heard her. Evelyn used her gift formally as a member of her church choir in worship of the God she loved.
Evelyn celebrated Life. She was an avid reader. As one who valued the past, she was a historian. As one concerned for the present, she was a problem solver with strong opinions, often engaging and always appreciating vigorous discussion and decisive action. Evelyn knew how to have fun. To music, she loved to dance. Whether at a celebration or at home doing chores, it was not uncommon for Evelyn to break out, rhythmically moving to the music that was playing. Evelyn enjoyed swimming and bowling. In many ways unique, she was left handed when playing sports, but wrote with her right hand.
Most of all, Evelyn loved people. As a woman of virtue and strong moral character, Evelyn freely gave of herself and her means sacrificially to others, especially to those in need. Evelyn was a mentor and a friend, laughing with those who laughed, weeping with those who wept, loving all with the love she felt that was shown to her by her Lord, a love unconditional, a love without prejudice, a love that knew know bounds.

Through her many experiences and the many challenges of life she had to face, particularly those as a wife and a working mother raising six children, Evelyn learned lessons of faith, until 1983 when those lessons brought her to an understanding of and trust in Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior. It is this faith that allowed her to end her life on earth the same way she lived it…with a passion and confident expectation of what is to come.

Evelyn Corsini is survived by her six children, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

Evelyn and I have been friends since 1968. During that time, we shared many good times and some not so good. We enjoyed singing, old movies, big band music, and good food, especially sweets.
I am missing her terribly but am comforted knowing I shall meet her again in heaven. Farewell, dear friend; you are at rest. I love you.
