Evelyn Cravens, 91
Evelyn Bernice Owens Cravens died on Saturday, November 8, 2025. She was born the daughter of Lester and Lala Owens on Nov. 19, 1933, in Missouri.
She married her high school sweetheart, Donald M. Cravens and were married for 73 years. Don preceded her in death on May 27,2025.
The Cravens moved to Tyler, Texas in 1955 after Don served four years in the U.S. Navy. They owned and operated Cravens Television Service for more than 30 years.
Evelyn accepted the Lord as her Savior as a teenager and loved serving at Central Baptist Church where they were active members since 1957. She loved singing in the choir, teaching children and had a heart for missionaries and served in the Women's Missionary Society.
Don and Evelyn are survived by their daughters, Donna Braymer and her husband Howard of Harrison, Arkansas, their three sons, wives and nine great grandchildren and Joy Cravens of Whitehouse, Texas.
A private service is planned with the family in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Central Baptist Church Missions Fund.

She was a good sister-in-law .she is home with Jesus now where we will see each other again at the feet of Jesus praising him for giving his life on the cross for our sins. Praise his Holy name.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed talking with Mrs. Cravens. She told me to call her Evelyn one time. I told her that I couldn't do that because I respected her too much. I did consent to call her Miss Evelyn. I always remember a sweet moment we shared talking before choir rehearsal about Laura Ingalls Wilder and our love for reading. Wilder also lived in Missouri and wrote many books there. She'll be missed.

Evelyn and Don were 2 of the sweetest people I have ever known. Evelyn holds a special place in my heart. She taught my kids in Sunday school and she was always their favorite teacher. She meant the world to me. I will miss sending her a Christmas card this year. Although I’m sad she has gone, I’m so happy she is again with Don and our Lord.

I am so very grateful that Don and Evelyn took me into their home as I would getting established with a new job. I was known as “chief” to them both and I still laugh about that when it comes to my mind. ❤
