Evelyn HERTER Obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden loss of Evelyn, age 61, in Burnaby, BC, who passed away into the presence of her Lord and Saviour, after a brief illness. Predeceased by her mother Rose (1997) and her father Wally (2012). Evelyn is survived by her brother Ralph (Michelle) and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and cherished friends throughout BC, Alberta and Germany. Evelyn's limitless compassion for people was evident in her lifelong relationships she enjoyed with numerous relatives; the friendships she formed and nurtured with people she met while growing up in Edmonton, Alberta; her longstanding friendships she developed with her coworkers; together all thriving well into Evelyn's retirement years; and in her devotion to her lengthy career as an x-ray technician at Burnaby General Hospital. Evelyn's varied abilities, talents and creativity touched the hearts of many. This was especially true when she showcased her immense talent playing her piano. Evelyn was a piano teacher, performer, music arranger and song writer. Her piano keyboard was where she found her greatest comfort, joy and solitude. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Henderson's Fraser Valley Funeral Home, Abbotsford, with interment to follow at Maclure Road Mennonite Cemetery, Abbotsford. In lieu of flowers, donations are greatly appreciated to the Canadian PBC Society or to a charity of one's choice in loving memory of Evelyn.

I had the privilege of meeting Evelyn when I worked at Burnaby Hospital medical imaging. She was a gentle soul with a great sense of humour and so well liked by all of the staff and colleagues. A shock to hear of her passing and it is with profound sadness that I send my sincere condolences to her family. She always showed great compassion for her patients and had a smile for everyone. She will be missed.

I want to send my very deep and heartfelt condolences to the Herter and Wampler families and friends on the passing of their beloved Ev.
I am remembering back to our early days of the 70's when I met Ev, through our church Highway Chapel, and youth outreach organization, Teen Challenge. Due to life and marriage, our paths separated, but we reconnected in the mid 80's after both she and my husband and I moved to the Fraser Valley. As a result I had the honour of singing, "The Rose," with Ev at both her uncle and aunt's 25th wedding anniversary, and a few years later at their daughter's wedding. My last time I was together with EV was when I sang at her mother's funeral. Shortly after that we moved back to Edmonton, and lost contact with dear Evelyn.
When I was told that Ev had passed, my heart was deeply saddened. Her vivacious spirit and beautiful smile will be missed here on this earth. This world's loss is Heaven's gain.
RIP sweet Ev.

Evelyn, the first niece in our large family, was a wonderful person, and it was always fun when she was in our midst. She had a great laugh and was always so joyful. I will miss her a lot. My deepest sympathies to Ralph and Michelle.

I worked with Evelyn for many years at Burnaby Hospital. So many laughs. We both shared a love for the piano and often talked about music. I wish I could have heard her play. I have many fond memories of Eve, she will be greatly missed. My condolences to her family.

I worked night shift with Evelyn for 4 years. I will aways treasure our Friday morning breakfasts at IHOP, and jamming together on the piano and guitar. We laughed so much during those years working together. Evelyn was a great lady!

Evelyn was a much loved cousin. We were very close growing up and she is a big reason I am a Christian today. She had such a great laugh. So glad she wasn't alone in those last moments.
