Evelyn L. Overly

Evelyn L. Johnson Overly, 90 formerly of Acme, passed away Friday, May 12, 2017. Born Dec. 7, 1926, in Norvelt, she was the daughter of the late Thomas H. and Mabel Myers Johnson. She was a member of Fairview Church of God. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John R.; her daughter, Joyce Komlenic; sisters, Erma Holden, Millie Rafferty and an infant sister. She was the loving mother to three daughters, Dee Shaffer (Bob), of Norvelt, Linda Baric (Rich), of North Carolina, and Charma Huey, of New York; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her family. Evelyn loved spending time with her family, traveling and enjoyed bingo to the fullest.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the JAY A. HOFFER FUNERAL HOME, Norvelt. Her funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Dale L. Porterfield, officiating. Following she will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery, Mt Pleasant Township.
