Evelyn Sands Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Apr. 10 to Apr. 25, 2018.
Evelyn M. Sands, 87, of Quincy, formerly of Dorchester, died April 9, 2018, following a sudden illness. Raised in Dorchester as a communicant of St. Brendans Parish, she moved to Quincy in the early 1990s. Prior to retirement, she worked as a secretary in both the real estate and construction industries. Evelyn truly enjoyed her travels to different places around the country and also took many cruises to the Caribbean and other tropical destinations over the years, but her favorite times were those simply spent in the company of her loving family. She was the devoted mother of Bob Sands and his wife Cheryl of Tyngsboro, Mike Sands of Dorchester, Joe Sands of Quincy, Barbara Moccio of Dorchester and Linda Downey and her husband Gerard of Quincy; dear sister of Louise Holcroft of Weymouth, the late Rita Mules and Joe Monahan of Maine. Also survived by 12 cherished grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Visiting hours Thursday, April 12, from 5-8 p.m. at Hamel Funeral Care and Cremation Service of Mass, 26 Adams St., Quincy Center. Memorial Mass Friday at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Church, 757 Hancock St., Quincy. Private burial will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her memory be made to American Heart Assn., PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02241.
