No greater love than this than to lay down one's life for their friends. We await his return with Jesus Christ of Nazareth the Alpha and Omega and all the Saints.

I'd read quite a lot about him and his convictions. I lived just down the road in Wamego Kansas. He was a man of strong faith and an example to all true believers. A man of charity, and a genuine humanitarian was he.

David and I became friends years ago when he first came to our NIA meetings in Oakland. Then we joined the NIA Board together. He was my friend, neighbor and sounding board. I always called him early in the morning on my way to work. "David I was thinking" then he giggled knowing I probably had some wild hair idea to share with him. Mom and I went to KU Med Center to see him 3 weeks not knowing we would see him again. He never knew we were there. That was a real struggle for me due to us being so close, and always bouncing ideas off each other for our NIA. David you earned those Golden Wings to Heaven my friend ~ I will truly miss you. You will never be forgotten. You were a force to be reckoned with when it came to things you wanted to make happen in our neighborhood. Peace my friend......

As a newcomer to the NIA family I often saw David at various meetings and educational opportunities — I am disappointed that I wasn’t able to engage him to learn more of his story. Still, he was a FIERCE force for the Oakland community and I highly respected him for that. May all who love you feel comfort and may you journey well!

The loss of David will be felt deeply in the Oakland community for years to come. Working with David on the needs and aspirations as a community leader gave hope to many and to me that a strong volunteer ethic is possible. David had a deep care, concern and hopeful vision for Oakland. He always saw the possibilities. I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear he had passed. To all his family and friends please know you are in my prayers.

Eternal rest grant into him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace.
I did not know His Holiness personally, but he came off as kind, sincere, straightforward man, and he had the initiative to do what many others would not. God rest his soul, and now he can know the answers to all the questions that set his life on the path it took.

Father David prayed for me when I was very sick here in Russia and I will never forget that. He was always very kind through Facebook and was always willing to answer questions. I will pray for him now. He was a good man, a good Catholic, and a good priest. May Father David Rest In Peace.

Your whole life was a prayer, even before you were concieved, you were a prayer. You taught me what was important in this life is how you live your life. God dwells in the hearts of those who love Him. Those who love him serve others the way Jesus served others, the way you served others. You were not a pharisee, so you never judged, criticised, condemed, or threw stones. You were a Jesus whom helped strangers, the homeless, the addicts, the sick, the ones with problems, your whole community, me. But you also bore His cross and shared in his sufferings- the nails, the thorns and other indignities. No matter what, you did what was right, and this is why you were also man of integrity. The gift of your existence will remain forever in my soul, heart, and mind. I will not say goodbye because there is no end to us. I look forward to seeing you in the next world my friend, pure love, holy man, sacred being, my Pope Michael the 1st. Thank you Great Spirit, Saint Michael and my departed father for bringing us together.
