Fay Grover Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on May 11, 2009.
HOLDEN - Fay M. Grover, 77, died May 8, 2009, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Aug. 3, 1931, in Auburn, the daughter of Dana and Wilma (Walker) Russell. Fay worked as a waitress for many years. She loved visiting friends for a cup of tea and a little sweet snack. She enjoyed entertaining friends, playing cards and going to weekend jam sessions at different locations where local musicians got together to entertain. Fay loved to dance anytime and anywhere. She also worked as a home caregiver and always wanted to be a nurse because she loved to help people. Fay loved to go to Cadillac Mountain and Acadia, when she was able to, hiking with her boyfriend, Tom, spending the day in Bar Harbor going to lunch and making a day of it. Family reunions were very special to her, seeing all of the Russell family members and longtime members of Brewer Eagles Club, of which she was a member. She is survived by two sons, Gary Grover and his wife, Debbie, and Lee Grover III and his wife, Karen, all of Holden; three sisters, Gwen Buffington of Paulsboro, N.J., Donna and her husband, John Agurkis, of West Peabody, Mass., and Janice Meserve of Lewiston; three grandchildren, Kyle Cyr, Lee K. Grover IV and his wife, Kim, and Angela Tarbox; one great-grandchild, Lee Jacob Grover; several nieces and nephews; and her special longtime boyfriend, Tom Riegelman. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Dana Russell; and former husband, Lee K. Grover Jr. Services will be held in August at a date and time to be announced at a later date. A service of Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor.

Tom, Gary & Debbie, Kenny & Karen - my thoughts are with you. We lost a true gem of a lady. Her love of her family and friends will live on in all of us. We always had so much fun when she stayed with us kids when mom and dad were away - even letting us raise a little hell. She will be greatly missed.

To Gary, Tom and Kenny and your families, we are so sorry for your loss. Fay was a good person and friend and, for a lot of years when we lived on the South Road, she and Gary were more a part of our family. The kids never minded having Fay stay with them when we were away. She was so good to them. Lots of good memories.
Love, Sue and Dick Stacey

Fay gave me advice when I wanted it, strength when I needed it, encouragement to be me, and a good laugh whenever we talked . . . always delivered from her loving heart. I'll always be grateful that she was a part of my life and will think of her when I sing. I will miss her greatly. SCAT!!!!!
