Faye Porterfield Obituary

Published by Houston Chronicle on Dec. 14, 2021.
Faye Christine Porterfield
1968-2021
Faye Porterfield, 53, passed away on December 8th 2021.
Faye was born August 23rd, 1968 in Fort Richardson, Anchorage, Alaska to Jack and Emily Porterfield.
Faye was preceded in death by her parents Jack Beckwith Porterfield and Emily Jane Bullard Porterfield.
She is survived by her 4 brothers and sister in laws; Jack B Porterfield Jr., Davis Porterfield and wife Mary, Lee Porterfield and wife Linda, Clifford Porterfield and wife Lisa. Aunt and uncle Willa and William Beuhler.
Cousins: Betsey and Joey Bowman, Brett and Nan Bullard. Walter and Janelle Paul and Anne Beuhler and family.
8 nieces and nephews: Jackson and wife Donna, Emily and husband Scott, Kayla, Jacob, Rebecca, Christine and husband Peter, Trey and wife Mallory, and John.
12 Great Nieces and Nephews: Jacklynn, Noah, Davis, Ford, Lewis, Jeulia, Beck, Elyse, Abby, Owen, Jane, Rush.
Faye was born in Alaska and soon moved to Marianna, Arkansas, with her family, where they resided for a few years before settling in Houston, Texas. She had an active childhood, being a cheerleader, joining the swim team and playing softball, while also being the youngest child of 4 brothers. Faye attended Sharpstown High School where she was voted Most Spirited her Junior year and was a part of the FHA Club - Future Homemakers of America. After graduating High School, Faye moved to San Marcos, Texas to attend Southwest Texas, before she came back to Houston, finishing up college at UofH.
Faye landed her first job as a Buyer at Oshmons. After Oshmans, she worked for JCPenney's and then a few years later, became a Land Appraiser in the real estate industry. She eventually started working at Molly's Pub in 2006 and became a General Manager, where she ran 18 pubs all around the Houston/Galveston area for 15 years. Faye greatly enjoyed being of service. She organized yearly auctions and fundraisers for the Foundation of Prader Willi Research, to help provide scholarships for kids to attend camps. She lived her life to the beat of her own drum and made friends everywhere she went. She loved live music, being near the water in Rockport, she REALLY loved the Astros, as well as traveling and gambling. She spent years baking with her best friends and cooking with her teams, Half - Baked and More Or Less Cookers, where they won many awards. There was never an event that she missed the opportunity to dress up for. She has two fur babies, Starla and Brody but she loved babies in general. She made sure to attend and try to spend time with her family's newborns and dedicated a room in her house to babysit. She dubbed herself "Your Favorite Sister/Your Favorite Aunt", which is 100% accurate. She was a true friend and cared more about others than herself. She was a lover of life, had the biggest heart and gave it out to everyone around her. When Faye entered a room, you knew, as she embodied that Texas spark.
Faye will be missed greatly by her family, friends and the many lives she touched by simply being the love and light that she was. She is leaving a hole within us all that will never be filled.
The family would like to thank her best friends that are more like sisters; Lorraine, Judi, Jenee, and Candace and many others. Thank you for everything.

Man, Faye Faye. Never did I think I would be writing this to you. Or about you. I never imagined this day to come for some reason. But who really does?
I´m so lucky I was born into the same life as you, into the same family as you. To have you as an Aunt, has been an honor. You always tried to be there for everyone. The effort and love you gave over the last 53 years to the family will never be lost or forgotten. I hope that we remember you by trying to be more like you; selfless, joyful, standing up for others and giving all the hugs and kisses during our time here on earth. The only thing that makes me feel a tiny bit better in loosing you is knowing your with Granny and JR now, I know you missed them everyday. I´ll be calling on you daily, for guidance and reassurance. So I´ll talk to you soon. Love you always.

My sweet Faye, I´ve been so sad since I read the news of your passing. While we didn´t keep in touch, FB allowed us to stay connected. We worked together for a short time but you made a big impact on me, your smile, sweet soul and big heart will forever be remembered. Gone too soon. Praying for your family, may God comfort their hearts.

I've never met you personally, but I
know how well loved you were by all the people who I've ever heard speak your name. As you look down from Heaven, know that you are loved and missed by family, friends, acquaintances, even people met indirectly who will raise a glass to you.

Requiescat in pace as you arrive at the altar of saints.

I can't say I knew Faye very well but I considered her a friend. I met her years ago and she was super friendly and generous as she poured my drinks, chatting all afternoon just before a hurricane. It was hard to believe she was there for her customers that day. After that day, she welcomed me as a regular and always had a smile, a hug and a friendly welcome to offer and I always greeted her enthusiastically. I know she was greatly loved because she was good and kind and a real friend to a lot of folks. We'll miss you, Faye. Molly's won't be the same without you. Indeed, a lot of lives won't be the same with you. You were a blessing on Earth.

The lovely obituary was spot-on. Faye had such a sweet heart - always caring deeply for those around her. We never got to bake together, a passion we shared, but her decorating skills were second to none. Wishing her family and friends much peace and strength for this bright light that went out much too soon.

A beautiful soul gone way to soon. Faye was always there when I needed her. I had not spoken to her in a bit but just knowing her light was in the world gave me comfort. Faye was so loved!! My condolences to her family!!
