FAYE IRENE TOLBERT, 81, of Rocky Gap, VA, was in Leesburg, FL, surrounded by family and friends when Jesus came and took her home on Wednesday, April 26, 2023. She was born and raised in Caples, WV, the daughter of the late Thomas & Lola Scaggs Gills. She spent her last days in the care of her nephew/brother, Tommy and his wife, Dee, where she enjoyed going out to eat, going out to listen to country music, listening to and singing gospel music at home with Dee and being spoiled by family and friends.

 She worked for Bastian Sewing Manufacturing Company and was a caregiver for many people.

In 1960, she married the love of her life, Elmer E. (“Gene”) Tolbert and they had one son, Samuel M. (“Shike”) Tolbert.

Faye was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Henry & Lola Scaggs Gills, her sweet husband, Elmer E. (“Gene”) Tolbert, her son, Samuel M. (“Shike”) Tolbert, her brothers, Freeman, Jim, Claude and John and her sisters, Betty Lou, Dorothy and Mary Ellen.

She is survived by her sister & brother-in-law, Lois & Bob Wingard, her granddaughter, Kellie, her great-granddaughter, Daphne and several nieces and nephews and friends, too many to list.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at the Cumiford-Stowers Cemetery, Rocky Gap, VA, with Pastor Woody Bailey officiating where she will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband “Gene.”
