Febe Nixon Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 12, 2025.
Febe Wright Nixon, 87, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2025, in Fort Worth, Texas. A resident of Benbrook, Texas, Febe was known for her gentle spirit, deep faith, and unwavering love for her family.

Born on December 24, 1937, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Febe was the beloved daughter of Mary Nell Wright (née Dutton) and Melmond Mannington Wright II. She carried the strength and grace of her heritage with quiet dignity throughout her life.

Febe attended Armstrong College in Savannah, Georgia, where she pursued her education with the same determination and purpose that she brought to all aspects of her life. A devoted Christian, Febe never missed a Sunday morning at church. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she was deeply loved by her church family in Benbrook, who cherished her presence, friendship, and unwavering devotion.

She is now reunited in Heaven with her beloved husband, James Alvin Nixon, whom she missed dearly. Those who knew her take comfort in knowing they are together again in eternal peace.

Febe is survived by her three loving children: Andrew Jeffrey Pickett (wife Kerry Cravens Pickett), Karen Jody Massey (husband Steven Bradley Massey), and Jami Kathleen Nixon. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren - Andrew Bradley Massey, Ashley Kathleen Byrd, and Steven Brandon Massey - and two great-grandchildren, Jack Andrew Massey and Andrew Bradley Massey II, who brought her immense joy in her later years.

She is also survived by her dear sister, Janet Wright Brooks of Hiawassee, Georgia, and was preceded in death by her beloved brother, Melmond Mannington Wright III ("Buck").

By her side every day was her faithful dog, Roxy, a constant companion and source of comfort. Febe's granddaughter now has the privilege of caring for Roxy, continuing the special bond they shared.

Febe's warmth, kindness, and steady faith touched all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by family, friends, and her loving church community.

To honor Febe's memory, the family asks that donations be made to Volunteers of America Southeast Louisiana, an organization close to her heart and the one from which Jody and Jeff were lovingly adopted. Donations can be made at www.voasela.org.

A family gathering will be held to celebrate her life and legacy on September 13, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Benbrook United Methodist Church, 1122 Bryant Street, Benbrook, Texas 76126.

My heart goes out to Jeff, Jody, Jami and my Aunt Janet. My heart hurts but I know she's ok, not just ok, she's where she has always planned to be in the end, Paradise! And that is the one thing that gives my heart levity. I loved her so very much and will miss her even more.
